Tearing my hair out - AsusRTAX88 Router - Sky Fibre Ireland - No internet access

Hello,

Hope you can please help.  I have searched the community for answers and gathered all the settings, but exahausted all the various settings, and continiously get "No internet connection" on the Aus router.

Setup I have is - Sky Fibre into the ONT box, then out to the standard sky router.  Purchased the Asus to accomodate the increase of devices on my network, but I cant get the Asus router to pick up internet..

Have checked all the obvious things, and its pluged into the ONT correctly.

Im no left wondering what option I have missed.  I understand because I am in Ireland (ROI) I must use PPPoe which I am and have used the provided username and password - username - anthing@skyds1, but still cant get it to work.

Can anyone please offer any advice ? @cookiemonsteruk  - I have seen you have experience with Asus routers.  Please could you review my settings and see if I have missed something.   Thank you in advance 🙂 image003.pngimage002.pngimage001.png

@Gussy_R

For Ireland, you need a VLAN ID tag 10 in this place on the router interface for the Asus.

Other than the VLAN ID 10 setting, ensuring you are using the right WAN port for connection to the ONT and setting the user name and password for PPPoE should work.

Re: Tearing my hair out - AsusRTAX88 Router - Sky Fibre Ireland - No internet access

Might require the existing DHCP lease to expire before a lease for a new MAC address is issued?

If so then that normally requires about an hour or so in the UK. I assume the lease times are much the same in Eire so if you leave it for an hour with nothing connected to the ONT then try the Asus again it may work.

@Gussy_R

User user details are 'anything@skydsl' and password 'anything' both entries without the signal quotes.

Re: Tearing my hair out - AsusRTAX88 Router - Sky Fibre Ireland - No internet access

Hello. Sorry I have not been back for a while. Work and family etc.  I tried everything kindly suggested including the user name and it still comes up with it can't find a connection.

Btw I have updated the firmware.

I have no issues with the internet on my existing router, just this new one.

Is it likely to be a faulty unit? Or am I just miscodniguring. Appreciate your help here. Thanks.

Re: Tearing my hair out - AsusRTAX88 Router - Sky Fibre Ireland - No internet access

@Gussy_R

It is likely misconfigured for PPPoE credentials or VLAN ID 10 for Ireland.

Alternatively, try a replacement cable between the ONT and the router's WAN port as these can sometimes be an issue even if they work with another router.

And it is best to switch everything off, eg: ONT and new router when swapping over to a new system for half an hour then switch it back on.
