Thanks @CaveMaster, I'll give that a try. I had kind of parked getting it working for a bit but once I'm allowed to play with our internet connection again (probably this weekend) I'll give it a go.

We've got our FTTP installed today and have set up our existing Asus router to replace the Sky one.
The issue is that the speed on the Asus is dismally slow, doing a speed test it starts at 900 then drops til it gets to 300 and levels out - upload is fine.
The Sky router gets aroun 850 as a comparison.
Is there a setting I've missed that would slow it down?

Hi Guys,
Just had Openreach install the Fibre ONT.
Trying to get it to provide a WAN connection to my Pfsense box.
Read this whole thread and tried everything! Can't seem to get it to work..
Currently the only solution I can get working is:
ONT --> Sky hub --> Pfsense --> Rest of my network
Anyone got it working with Pfsense directly?

Are there any additional options if you tick the 'Advanced configuration' box?

@jamesn123 Sometimes things aren't what they seem!
It does work!
Even though Pfsense inidcates otherwise!
We actually have two connections to the house right now (temporarily)
WAN_DHCP is Virgin Media (via Virgin's Hub in Modem mode)
WAN2_DHCP is Sky (via ONT)
I disabled the Virgin connection and even though Pfsense reports the Sky connection as Offline, it works perfectly fine. We didnt want to risk not having a connection while switching, hence the overlap.
Anyways, thanks for everyone's posts, wouldn't have got it working otherwise!

Try this: https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/SkyUK.html - Looks like you need to click 'advanced DHCP' options the use of option 61, and you need to use ' IPoE' or you could just use normal DHCP.
Shouldn't need to use on VLAN tagging either, yes you can use the default dhcp-client-identifier username / password too that's on there.
You can also delete the WANDHCP_V6 for Virgin since it's irrelivant, So you you should only need 3 if you're dual-wanning.

This is a great thread.
I have recently been put on Sky Ultrafast and given a new Sky Hub with the telephone socket in the back. I have found the Sky Hub absolutely hopeless for Wifi connectivity.
So I've reverted to my Synology Router, which gets the advertised speeds via WIFI when setup via PPoE as per this thread (thanks all for this). However now my telephone doesn't work and I do actually need it (home business line). I know I could put the Synology back into a bridgedmode but it seems I'm then stuck with the Sky Hub doing DHCP and managing my network, which I've found perform poorly. What I'd rather do (assuming I have to run the Sky Hub) is to have the Sky Hub as a secondary unit, attached by ethernet to get its internet connection and provide the telephone its connectivity. But is this possible, or is it a requirement to have the SkyHub connected to the ONT?

Further to this, I decided to cancel within my 31day cooling off period with Sky and go back to the old setup with copper phone line until I can find a provider with either a better router, or that offers a separate telephone solution that doesn't require the ISPs hub.
Unfortunately Sky chose to terminate my contract entirely and not offer me my old option without a new 18month contract (I only had 4 months left on it before). So now looking for a new provider, either FTTP or simply FTTC. Any suggestions welcome. I'd love to keep my Synology but maybe I can't.

I suspect any ISP could do that. They just don't want to because it raises the nightmare of support overhead associated with potentially having to help customers get ISP-issued VOIP credentials and associated configuration working on a whole raft of different hardware and software clients.

@jackojnr I'm struggling with the same challenge on my Deco M9 trying to get it connected directly.
Did you ever get this figured out?

Hi all,
Great thread and good to see someone from Sky commenting.
Was wondering if anyone is using a Meraki firewall in place of the Sky Hub?
Meraki recently rolled out DHCPv6 to their firewalls
They don't support option 61.
Is 61 required for V6 in auto mode?
I've not order sky fttp, but don't want to order if it's not going to work
