We are currently with Virgin, out of contract, and are thinking of moving to Sky.
we did have a BT landline but haven't used that for a number of years so not sure if the connection is still 'live'
We do have concerns as to how straightforward transferring to Sky would be if the BT line is no longer working, particularly if it might involve digging across the front garden.
Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

If you’re in a fibre priority area they won’t let you use that line anyway. Openreach will insist on putting full fibre in as the intension is to phase the old copper lines out. Also, if you do go back to using that you’ll find the speed a very big drop from Virgin.
