I've tried doing the security down to WPA2 via the MySky app but that's made no difference.
Definitely a channel conflict issue on the 2.4ghz band between the Eufy hidden network and the Max hub both using channel 1, that I didn't have with the previous sky router where I was able to manually set the broadcast channels.
Totally unacceptable and short sighted of Sky to limit user configuration in this way, or to have not tested the hardware in a real world environment multi device environment

I recently switched from BT to Sky, I just ordered the Sky 500mb with the standard router, they sent me. The sky wifi max router and I have to say that whilst I can get speeds of upto 500Mbps on the WiFi, the reliability of the WiFi is terrible,
we are getting WiFi drop outs constantly, at times the lag can be really annoying. Even when you are in the same room as the router the connection just drops. There are only three of us and the router is in the middle of the house.
I contacted sky support and firstly they tried to sell my the WiFi guarantee for £4pm even though i have full WiFi signal and good speeds throughout the house. I ask for the old router and they said they would need to cancel my line and place a new order, just to replace the router.
They then blamed a WiFi ap I have outside which uses a different ssid, I turned that off and it's still dropping out all of the time.
for WiFi reliability it really is the worst device I have used, they also force you to configure with the app, some setting are blocked from the web interface, otherwise the broadband has been ok for wired devices, there are other also complaining on the forums of dropping connections and lag on the sky max router.

Hi everyone,
I'm also experiencing WiFi reliability issues after switching from BT to Sky broadband (got the Sky Max Hub gateway). My configurations: 2bed flat, modern, Openreach modem and Sky Max Hub in storage cupboard at far end of flat, around 4 devices connected via WiFi, WPA3-T.
I thought I was getting a sweet upgrade on speed (from less than 100 to 500 MB/s), but in reality, I'm trading speed for reliability and I'd rather take half the speed at half the drop rate.
I used to be on the default security settings (WPA3-T), but I downgraded this to WPA2 as of today 16/02/25 and will report back if I have improved reliability.
It is terrible that Sky sent out such a shoddy device, then make it really difficult to get tech support without making customers pay to call someone.

I have now turned off the sky wifi and have purchases the Deco X55 wifi solution. works so much better, no drop outs and no lag. Such a shame companies are peddling such substandard kit with their services, in hindesight we should have stayed with BT, it worked perfectly without having to shell out £160 for a seperate wifi solution

I'm having the same issue as others have described, constant dropping of Internet from sky router, it's really not good enough considering how much I'm paying, generally the speed is good, however it's constantly dropping and leaving me having to reconnect, not helpful at all.
Is Sky actually doing anything or are we talking into the void here? Seems to be the only option is to buy an additional router, which obviously isn't great as a customer of sky...

I'm not sure...how do we tag a Sky rep?

Hello. Some things I have tried and seen recently
1. if you have one of the pods and it's acting up it can cause issues on the whole mesh (affecting the stability of the wifi). Sky engineer confirmed and is replacing one of my hubs at the moment (none of his van so waiting for one to arrive)
2. WPA3 encryption can cause issues on some devices. Some people including me have switched back to WPA2 which has helped with dtsbility
3. apparently cabling the PODS can cause issues. As they are triband it's best to let them connect to each other over the second 5GHz band
4. This is either a strange finding or coincidence. That is I have disabled IPV6 on the Sky max hub via its web interface. This seems to have really helped and I'm not getting delays on lookups or stuttering/pausing when watching for example Facebook videos
I'll keep looking into ways to improve the stability but so far so good today!
