I've changed the batteries in my sky stream remote and it doesn't seem to be working, I've followed all the steps to try and get it sorted but there is still no back light

Faulty remotes is a common complaint and there are a number of threads on the forum on the subject.
I see you have tried some ways to get it working again. I don't know which you have tried but the most useful ones that seem to have worked for a number of people, including me, are as follows:
Hold the remote at both ends and twist as though you were wringing out a cloth. Details can be found on the following thread (post 395)

If that doesn't work you could try the method given as the "Answer" to the tread at "Sky Glass faulty remote"?

Even if you get it working again I would contact Sky and ask for a replacement. I read on this forum earlier today that Sky have a new batch of remotes In the interim you can use a Sky Q remote if you have one available.

I contacted Sky about this and they couldn't have been more helpful.
One of my remotes keeps asking for the batteries to be changed ( I use Duracell) so contacted them. They asked me to check behind the batteries for a white dot. If it's not there it indicates that it's one of the 'faulty' batch they sent out . They have put me a new one on order so 🤞🏼
