Ad skipping (isn't working)

Hey, I have sky stream and decided to get ad skipping. So I added it to my subscription, but for some reason I don't get the option to actually skip any ad at all. I know it doesn't work for live TV, but it should on most other channels. Anyone know how to fix this. (I've turned it off etc)

The "skip ad" button only works for Sky's own on-demand content.

What the ad skip feature allows you to do is to fast forward through content on ITV X, C4 app and the My 5 app.

I have the same problem and despite time sent dealing with Sky customer service in which time I could have grown a beard, I am no further forward.

Can you be a little clearer on the problems you are experiencing? The ad skip function is quite clear: 1/ You need to subscribe 2/ It only works on Sky's on demand content 3/ You can fast forward/rewind on ITVX, Channel 4 and Channel 5 apps. 4/ It doesn't work on Disney+, Discovery+, Netflix, or Amazon Prime.

I have the same problem.  I am being served unskippable ads for about a minute before it becomes skippable.  This is on Sky Atlantic.  Any thoughts before I get onto Sky?  Thanks.

Having the same issue and I've just got it. I'm not sure why people can't understand the question.... 

It's obvious that the 'skip ad' button skips ads on other channels but the question we are all asking is why we can't manually fast forward through the ads on the other channels

I now have the answer.  The first sixty seconds is unskippable due to "technical" issues - aka keeping the advertisers happy.

I am now in the process of complaining as this was a blatant misselling of the service.

Wait what!!! So that's the first 60 seconds on EVERY time there's ads!! I've just signed up now and I get 2 months free so I've not paid anything as of yet but if this is the case then I'm certainly cancelling. 

Keeping the advertisers happy... What on earth! Spotify, netflix, YouTube, every single one has a option to pay so you don't have to look at adverts! So why on earth are sky any different unless these advertiser's are paying sky a cut? Because that makes no sense. If they want to advertise they're gonna have to get with the times and do it via our algorithms on FB etc 🤣 

Thank you so much for explaining. I haven't been with sky for years as I didn't really watch TV and it always allowed skipping ads back then to pay for so this must be new...

hey. do you know if u can add the ad skipping g option to my sky Q? or how can i get ad skipping with sky? do i have to upgrade to sky glass? does that mean i need to get new tvs with sky as sky glass? i have new panasonic tvs, so i am happy with mine, so then, i have to have sky Q don't i? i desperately want the ad skipping , but how? pls pls any help would be amazing! i have looked on every website, every option under my sky account, on the app and on the tv, i cannot find any option to add the skip ad ? pls help

Ad Skipping isn't an option on Sky Q as it isn't needed. You can FF through the ads at any time.

Ad Skipping is available on Sky Stream, which is the same as Sky Glass but without the overpriced TV. It connects to your existing TV.

This is not the case for me. I'm able to skip adds straight away. 

On some programs, it is automatic, while others, you have to us the skip add button which is available to me immediately.

I appreciate that doesn't help others who are having issues, but thought it was important to highlight my experience.
