PPPOE codes for connection to third party router

Hi

just moved over to Sky from BT, I use a third party router for connection which supports my hard wired LAN so I am after the PPPOE to enable connection, does anyone have the information?

If it's superfast (FTTC) Sky use MER (DHCP Option 60/61) no PPPoE.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

If by 'code' you mean a generic username/password combination, then anything with a format like

Username: abcdefgh@skydsl

Password: 1234567890abcdef

should work.  However, as @GD1 indicates, for FTTC the router must be capable of MER rather than PPPoE, and has to be set as such in the appropriate option.

So you shouldnt be using PPPOE that is for ADSL. You need to use DHCP Option 61

It's dynamic DHCPv4, with DHCP Option 61 field filled in with 'anything@skydsl|anything' without the single quotes on the WAN port. DHCPv6 should be set for Prefix delegation dynamic DHCPv6 under IPv6 settings.

In addition unless you have a seperate vdsl modem for fibre to the cabinet to make full use of the asus router it will just need to be etherneted to the sky hub with the sky hub wifi turned off and the asus set to access point mode

@Ranz07

The authentication string is 'anything@skydsl' and password 'anything' both without the single quotes and 'anything' is whatever you like you'd like to place in that part of the string. PPPoE only applies to Ireland and not the UK where DHCP Option 61 for authentication applies.
