No ont

I don't have an ont box to connect my sky hub. Sky said I didn't need an engineer and it's a plug and play. Will I need to buy a new cable to connnec the hub to a phone line instead?

@Mankit  What kind of broadband was it that was being installed in your property? Is it superfast or ultrafast broadband?

Which 'plug'?

An ONT will typically have a power supply on a circular pin from a mains transformer, an external optical link on a green SC/APC jack and an ethernet cable on RJ45 to the ISP router.

OK: ethernet only goes in one way round, and usually has a small plastic latch on the plug which fits a recess in the socket.  It's perhaps possible a previous resident has damaged the socket in some way, but that's hard to see with the wall-mounting.

Typically ONTs are held to the wall on a couple of screws, so it might be possible to ease it up and away from the wall to get a better look.  If you choose to do this, be careful not to exert any strain on the optical fibre going to the greel jack as that's the fragile bit.

Re: No ont

It seems being different from what I need actually ,I don t know ,they said an engineer will come and than that it s not needed for the engineer to come ,I have no idea ,an engineer would have had everything needed, do you know how can I get in touch with them to send an engineer with the right measures ? Thank you .

For FTTP activation at an address with an existing ONT an installer won't be scheduled: it's left to the subscriber to connect the ONT to the WAN socket on the Sky Broadband Hub using an ethernet cable.
