Booster advice

We have received a booster today (yesterday we received the new Broadband Hub and Stream boxes as we have switched). Do the boosters work as a mesh system (like Sky Q) or do they run as an Access Point?

I have ours plugged into an Ethernet switch upstairs which in turn goes into the new Broadband Hub downstairs.

Thanks

The boosters will act like a mesh system rather than an access point.

All of the contact informatio for Sky can be found at the URL below:

As far as I'm aware you have to speak to them over the phone to get a Sky booster, not sure if they're free or not.

@cg24689when you call Sky, you are asked the nature of the call say " Technical ", see if that gives you a shorter time in the phone queue. It is also better calling earlier in the morning or later on in the day.

If someone has helped give them Like.

Re: Booster advice

Our booster came a few days ago, it us free but is £10 to pay for postage, which I think is a really good deal.

If only I could get broadband to my PC upstairs as our modem and Sky Q box is downstairs, it used to work but after I installed my new printer via phone which took 2 days phone advice, printer working good but lost bbrand on PC.

Re: Booster advice

Hi Browno

Could you explain to me it simple terms please I'm not tech savvy I'm afraid, but my situ is my pc is upstairs the sky Q and modem is downstairs, your description jumped out at me as I have same set up and need the broadband signal to go upstairs to my pc, as I cant get anything online on pc due to weak signal from downstairs.

I got a booster fro Sky few days ago I thought this would do it, but how on earth to I connect that up to pc UPSTAIRS  when modem and sky Q box are both DOWNSTAIRS??????

PLEASE!!!!

Typically you'd put a booster somewhere close to halfway between the nearest item of Sky hardware and the client device: it's also useful to consider signal directionality.

Also think about how your computer is getting its WiFi signal, and how effective its aerial can be.

Sky boosters can be put on the end of Ethernet cable runs from either a source or client device to make it possible to place them somewhere effective.
