Router Stats

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Me001With these re-starts does all the lights on the router go out or does the power light cycle red. Reason of asking is your router stats show the uptime of the router as nearly the same as the WAN uptime on the router.

Hi Highlander,
Not sure because the router is in a room downstairs and by the time i get to it all lights are green.
I'll see if i can set up something to video the router.
this is really annoying now because i'm an avid gamer and constantly beeing booted out of games with friends then obviously i cannot rejoin.

Has Sky changed out the router to discount a faulty router could be the cause of the problems you are having? The reason for asking is what your router stats showing uptime the same on the router as the connection would show that they router has power cycled.

Yes, Sky initially replaced the router back in February when i initially reported intermittent issues.
a 2nd new router was then installed at the end of March but still had issues, that weekend Openreach were performing work in the area and my connection went back to normal for 3 weeks until last wednesday.
i do have an old style router that was left by an engineer during the 4 visits i had.
any ideas on what may fix the probelm?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Mr+MullYou have to presist with getting Sky to solve this fault, as moving to another provider will just take the fault with you if it is indeed the connection.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYour issue looks to be a DHCP Renewal issue which is usually caused by either a heavy line fault or backend problems in your area. Since you experienced a loss of service back in March it would suggest a problem on your line. You may need a 2nd engineer visit.
