Apple TV+ trial eligibility

As an Apple TV+ subscriber, I was surprised to see Sky offering 6 months free as part of the VIP rewards package,

I wondered how this would work so phoned Sky support to check.

1st guy I got didn't sound too sure himself & couldn't find any mention of existing subscribers eligibility & told me it was nothing to do with Sky, just an external Apple trial so I came away thinking I was unable to take part.
looking at the sign up page, in the My Sky app, it definitely quoted available to "existing Apple TV+ subscribers" so I phoned Sky support again.
2nd guy seemed much more informed & immediately told me the procedure.
1. Cancel existing subscription (simple button press in Apple ID settings on phone)

2. Apply for trial via Sky VIP rewards

3. Link is instantly generated (click & follow)

4. 6 month signup confirmed.

was also sent a link to a help file explaining the procedure but despite setting & confirming my Microsoft id, can't access it

Hi @Deet  - what exactly is the message if you see when you click on the link generation within the My Sky App?

Sorry if I misled you Mark, I was aiming to be helpful to anyone else considering the offer & to show that unfortunately the level of support varies between support team members.

Ah cool, yeah the customer services can be hit and missed, it normally depends who you end up with and how you get pass the initial automated system. If you say and press the right thing you end up getting to a more useful person.

Normally by deafault you go to the general Sky HelpDesk which is based offshore and all they do it follow standard scripts, however if you can get to a more knowledgable department the first time your experience is always 10000% times.

Its a shame Sky changed the way their customer services switchboard works since ComCast took them over, they were much better 3 or 4 years ago.

Re: Apple TV+ trial eligibility

I am being told by sky I have already activated mine but I've never even signed up. I want to sign up now to watch Masters of the Air but the link in the app has gone. Sky have no idea why and have told me to wait to see if it does up again. Helpful....

Unfortunately the last time I had checked the apple offer on sky vip, there was a date you had to apply for this, which was earlier this month (12th january rings a bell) so it is no longer available.

Re: Apple TV+ trial eligibility

This isn't the information given to me by sky on both social media and on the phone. They believe I should still be eligible to activate the trial

Going by memory, if you got the Activision code there was a grace period after the end of the offer on 12th january.

If you don't have an Activision code, they are not available any more from the sky vip.

I noticed The offer end date was added in December after the offer.

Sorry.

I'm a customer like you, I do take an interest in the vip offers and as there were previous questions about end dates for apple tv, I did take an interest in this so regularly checked the app as at one stage it was "until further notice"

If this information came from the general Sky customer services team I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't accurate.

They would be incredibly unlikely to know all the specific individual details of each of the offers available via Sky VIP due to them changing all the time.

Googling this, there is a GBNews article dated 30th dec 2023  that the last date to apply for this offer was 31st December 2023

The 12th january in my mind must be last time to activate the activation code

Re: Apple TV+ trial eligibility

This was passed from Sky customer services through to one of the more technical teams and they assured me it was still valid. It's still advertised on their website too. Who knows...

Re: Apple TV+ trial eligibility

@tomp650

If all else fails you can get 3 months of Apple TV+ for free by signing up to Currys Perks:

https://www.currys.co.uk/perks.html

It can take a few days for the registration to come through but it does work, and it stacks with the 6 months from Sky so if you do end up with it then you're sorted for 9 months.
