Which other companies are doing so?

Virgin are sending out emails to people who regularly watched Eurosport offering TNT Sports for free for their remainder of their contract (rather than pay £18), however they is definitely problems with it actually being implemented

So will Sky be reducing our subscriptions by the £3 they're going to be saving in this reduction from Discovery+ Standard (£6.99) to Discovery+ Basic (£3.99)?  With around 12m subscribers, that's a saving of £430,000,000 each year for Sky.

I use the Discovery+ app exclusively to watch my favourite sports in HD, as my Sky SD subscription only gives me the live channels in SD. Getting them in HD via the Discovery+ app has always been great.

I very much doubt they were paying £6.99 for every single Sky subscriber,, that isn't wholesale agreements work.

Okay, the £430m was probably an over-estimate.,  but Sky must be saving money with this new WB deal. Just disappointed that the only content I still get via my Sky sub is ending and I'm locked into a worthless contract which I only reluctantly agreed to because of the Discovery+ Standard sub being included.

How does that work exactly is Eurosport a premium subscription with Virgin or is it included within the TV package

Sounds like a scam

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

any "saving" would likely have been swamped by the renegotiated carriage rights Sky have managed to retain for the post Max-launch years.  Sky certainkly didnt have a strong bargianing position when the energy extension to early 26 was sorted out.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Since Max basic with ads replaces it early next year which will include HBO , DC and Warner Bros TV/Film content aswell as Discovery+ content, I wouldn't expect any refund.

Fair comment @Timelord2018 but Sky Customers are paying to watch Eurosport but Virgin Media customers Eurosport is included at no extra so they get it free and TNT Sports for free still a scam

It wouldn't be so bad if Sky Q were a rolling monthly contract. As it is, you have to sign up for a 2-year contract based on the channels and content promised at the time.  A few months later you then start losing channels and content with no option to end your contract.

After over 35 years of watching Eurosport I'm really going to miss the curling, skiing, bowls, etc. All those minority sports gone 😞

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Hi massive Motorbike fan and previous subscriber to BTSport for MotoGP mainly then in a round of forced cost cutting decided would actually prefer World Superbikes and British Superbikes to MotoGP so BT sports was ditched a few years ago. Now my question!! If I subscribe to TNTSport through my sky stream puck will I also get access to the full discovery plus app? Or do you only get that if subscribing through discovery and not sky hope that makes sense

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

i was wondering the same - but from what i've read / understood, if you want the widest scope of access (both the broadcast TNT channels and Disco+ app access), you need to subscribe via Sky.       If you just subscribe to TNT Sorts / Discovery+ directly, than you have the online access but no the broadcast channels on yoru Sky box / guide / planner.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Currently, watching Eurosport via the Discovery plus app, you are advert free, which is great for the cycling. I wonder if this will still be the case once Eurosport is absorbed by TNT, or will I be paying £30 a month for a worse service. I suspect it will be the latter.

@AndySCFC if you subscribe to TNT Sports via Sky, your included Discovery+ basic account that you get with Sky gets upgraded to the Premium tier so you can watch all the TNT Sports content via Discovery+
