Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Well. I'm going to miss the snooker for sure. Gutted I can't afford the TNT subscription.

I watch snooker, tennis, triathlons all through the Eurosport channels.

They could easily add it as a addition to the terms and conditions you are sent a list of known changes to channels/services. At that point at least you would have the option to cancel and you would be fully informed as a customer.

I'm afraid the commercial sensitivity of upcoming changes means viewers are always going to be the last to know, and as pointed out numerous times in this thread, contract wording is such that we've no right to the information in advance anyway.

What a customer can do is argue they've been materially disadvantaged once a change has happened in order to attempt to negotiate exit from a minimum contract term without penalty, particularly if the presence of the channel(s) being removed was a significant factor in choosing the subscription in the first place.

The thing that I do not understand is how are T.N.T. going to squeeze 6 channels worth of sport in to 4. I am prsuming that will be on the red button. Also very sad that as from 2026. The Tour de France will now longer be on I.T.V. 4. I am just so disappionted by the news. After many years of saving both Eurosport channels twice on Sky E.P.G s. It was not Brexit but U.S. Capatlisim that ended Eurosport in the U.K. N. Ireland and The Republic of Ireland. £30 a month is too much for the T.N.T. sport app and T.N.T. have now admitted that Eurosport branding will have the same long ad-breaks same presenters and even the sam mircophones with the Eurosport E on the mikes. Also on my Smart T.V. Discovery + does not load. (removed)

@theredhouse55555 I gather you didn't tune into any of the 18 matches played last night via TNT Sports same 4 channels not a red button in sight so you presumed wrong.

Bit of a harsh reply!

I read the comments as the poster is asking how will TNT add the contents of two extra channels to an already full schedule across TNT's 4 existing ones. Presumed a red button type approach - which in itself isn't a crazy idea and one used in the UK already to give viewers the choice when simultaneous events are being broadcast live.

When the Grand Tours start, it was common for Eurosport to broadcast some of them live from 10 or 11 am to the end (some 4/5 hours of live cycling). How would that be added to an existing TNT schedule - more channels, red button, some sports dropped?

If you're in the know and aware that not a red button will be in sight, then your retort is founded.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

In fairness to WBD, TNT at least has a red-button option which is more than Eurosport does - so there is some added flexibility.

Although I agree linear should always be the preference and suspect there may be some weekends mainly, when there's more than enough live content to fill the existing 4 broadcast channels and leave some needing an extra home.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

People unhappy with losing their favourite sport for 'free' on Eurosport have had it good for a very long time.

Many of us have had to pay for TNT for years for ours after they went there from Eurosport  or Sky Sports . Welcome to the modern world of sports broadcasting.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

I joined Sky last year purely for the Cycling on Eurosport and F1 on Sky Sports, but now the cycling has been taken away. It will be too expensive to have both Sky Sports UHD/HDR for just F1, and also TNT (£30+ extra just for cycling. Hopefully TNT will be available to subscribe on a monthly basis so at least I could watch the Tour de France perhaps in UHD/HDR!

I know that the four English team games were on the 4 TNT linear channels. What method did TNT use to show the other 14 games?

TNT Sports: £30 extra a month, 31-day rolling contract. Cancel anytime. 31 days’ notice required to cancel. Requires a Sky TV subscription (from £36.50 a month) and Sky Q box.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

Email just received from BT:

"All your existing sports content currently on Eurosport 1 & 2 will be available on
TNT Sports channels 1 to 4.

TNT Sports in the UK will become the new home for a host of live sports including Tennis, Cycling, Snooker and the Olympics. "

So it seems all sports crammed into 4 linear channels, therefore a lot will have to go on the Red Button which can't be recorded.

Re: Changes to the TV Guide - January 2025

I have the same question? Wouldn't have resigned with Sky if Eurosport and Discovery+ were being removed as I watch ES a lot.

Re: Closure of Eurosport channels 28/02/25

To be fair Eurosport 1 and 2 has been a free channel for a couple of years and Eurosport and T.N.T. are nothing to do with Sky.

It will be interesting to know if Discovery + will remain on SKY Q and ifso how much?

@theredhouse55555

The 'Standard' version of Discovery+ bundled on Sky hardware is moving to their 'Basic' tier from February 28th but still included in the Sky subscription.  In the context of this thread, Basic doesn't include any sports content.
