It's really noticeable that all so-called 'Superusers' who have replied to this thread are without exception defensive of Sky's involvement in this change. <snip>, give us a break and let the discussion continue without the very obviously paid propaganda. The fact is that the Paramount+ service is now unusable on Sky due to the sheer number of ads inserted into every programme. That isn't good for either us customers or Sky themselves.
Then complain to PARAMOUNT, they are the ones inserting the adverts into THEIR content, moaning at Sky for something outside their control helps no one

Quite possibly: what we're mostly doing is observing that decisions made by Paramount Global (who are in distinctly dodgy financial shape) are not those of the Comcast Corporation or their Sky Group division.

Paramount have always had adverts in their Basic package.
what seems to have happened is Sky have moved customers from the standard package which we have all been on to the basic package saving £3 per customer but keeping customers price at the same level. So it is definitely Sky we should be complaining to.

Hollywood Reporter reported on 7th Nov 2024 that from 20th Nov 2024, thar paramount plus would introduce the ad tier in UK and Ireland.
So from launching in June 2022 until then, there was no ads tier.

It is supplied "at NO EXTRA cost" when you sub to Sky Cinema!!!!!!!!!!!! the price of Sky Cinema would not change because a "FREE" extras value is now different, also do you really think Sky would be paying full price per customer 🤣

You miss the point
it may be Free but Sky have used it as a way of increasing Sky Cinema customers
they have now effectively removed this incentive

As with everything, if a service is no longer value for money to you then the simple option is to stop subscribing

Not so much defensive, but just presenting rationally the reality that you don't want to hear, perhaps.

I do & directly; I do not have Sky Cinema.

As of yet I still haven't seen any ads, promos at the beginning, yes. But no ads during a programme. In any case I can suffer a few ads IF they're inserted at appropriate places, and not like Youtube and Amazon Prime at random. Disney+ have just about got it right with 60 to 90 second ad breaks three times during a one hour show.

Fair comment @Skull+Treaty I don't have Sky Cinema but I do have Paramount Plus standard 12 months subscription via a Sky VIP offer as I didn't have Sky Cinema

Interesting to see Sky Media are the sales team handling advertising on Paramount+. No wonder Sky wants their customers to see the ads and have no easy way to upgrade to the ad-free option.
