Hi,
I am trying to help a friend connect their Sky booster to a wireless client (air conditioner). The booster is hard wired ethernet back to the sky router. When I look at ssid that the booster is transmitting, its the same for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. I'd like to separate them as the 2.4 is needed for certain devices like the ring doorbell and the AC wifi module. So how do I set the ssids on the booster. Is there a login page similar to the router itself or do I change the ssids on the main router and the booster then sees two different ssids? I can't seem to find any information on how to log on to the booster itself.
I then want to set a static ip address for the AC which I assume will be done on the main router as the booster shouldn't be doing any dhcp routing, is this correct.
Paul.

Following the standard procedure to unsynchronize, separate and rename the bands on the Sky Hub should replicate on the booster.
Note that this isn't possible on a Max Hub.

So to split the two channels you need to go to your router config page which can be found by typing 192.168.0.1 into your web browser. To access the page, you'll need;
username: admin
password: sky OR your WiFi password
- Select wireless from the navigation bar and scroll down a little and untick the 'Synchronise 2.4GHz and 5GHz settings'
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and hit apply.
- Once the page reloads you need to go to the 5GHz wireless settings page on the sub navigation bar below where you click wireless before
- In the 5GHz section you want to go to the box called 'Name (SSID)' and add something like 5g to the end of the current name
- Scroll down and hit apply
- Then on any wireless device you should now see two networks. One network will be the same name as usual and will be 2.4GHz band and the other will be the usual name with 5G on the end (Or whatever you typed). Connect any 5GHz capable device to the 5GHz network and see if it works correctly. The WiFi password should be the same if you havent changed it.

@TimmyBGood thanks I'll give that a try when I see them on Friday. If not I'll look on the router for the boosters ip address and see if it has a login page. I'm fine with the renaming and passwords etc but find it strange the booster doesn't have its own login as I would expect that would be where I could change the 2.4ghz channel if I needed to.

A Sky wireless booster isn't intended to be user-administered hardware: they are loaned (not sold) to address issues with services associated with Sky subscription products.

Hi,
I hope you can help. My Sky router (not Sky Q but just fibre broadband) is synchronised at both 5ghz and 2.4ghz. I want to run a Ring camera that operates at 2.4 ghz only and so assume, based on posts by others, that I need to split the bands (my router is only a few months old if that matters).
I've tried to do this without success and had to reset the router to get anything back. Now all is working as before. Your explanation is the clearest I have seen so thank you for that but I wanted to check something with you if you don't mind.
In your example, you untick the synchronise box in the 2.4ghz tab and then press APPLY and then rename the SSID in the 5ghz tab and press APPLY? Can I confirm I don't also need to untick the synchronise box in the 5Ghz tab as well?
Also, if I wanted to amend the name of the 2.4ghz SSID rather than the 5ghz SSID, I assume I do everything in reverse (untick the synchronise box on 5ghz tab & press APPLY and the rename the 2.4ghz SSID and press APPLY?) Is that right?
Grateful for confirmation as if i can't separate the bands, I will not proceed with the Ring doorbell.
Grateful for your assistance
John

Just to update anyone following this thread, I did the changes as I indicated in my previous message and separated the bands. All is working fine.
Thanks for the advice on here.
