I have recently purchased something that requires a 2.4 Ghz compatible WIFI router. I have done some research and I believe we currently have auto WIFI where it automatically blends them together. I am struggling to find a way to split the WIFI so that I can use this new device. So all I need help with is splitting our wifi so we can use this new device. Please help ASAP.

Type 192.168.0.1 into your browser.
Enter the login details that apply to your Sky Hub
Select the WiFi tab
Scroll down and untick the ‘Synchronise 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings’ box
To help identify the two WiFi bands, edit one of the SSID's to make it identifiable
for example, SKYXXXXX5GHz
each WiFi band has its own sub-menu where you can make the change
If you make this change, your hub will generate two SSID's and each device will need to be reconnected to whichever changes have been made to.
Select Apply
your Sky Hub may take a few minutes to restart

To seperate the wifi
- Log onto router and go to wifi
- Go to 5ghz band and untick synchronise 2.4ghz and 5ghz
- Go to 5ghz ssid and add -5g at the end
- Save
- Go to individual devices and assign wifi band accordingly

Sorry, I'm really technologically inept. What do you mean log onto the router? Do you mean log into the wifi? And if not please explain in detail.

The old wifi ssid without -5g now becomes the 2.4ghz band

Any way to disable the 5G? Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou can in the routers admin settings but is there a reason why you want to? Usually just splitting the bands is sufficent & you may lose performance if you disable 5ghz.

Really? I have looked in admin and can't find nothing to turn the 5G off. Can you assist? Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreGo to WiFi, select the 5ghz tab and uncheck the following;
- Enable WiFi access point'
- Allow Broadcast of Name
- Synchronise 2.4ghz & 5Ghz settings
You may need to uncheck & apply the last one first before you do the other two.

Thank you!
I use my Sky mini boxes with ethernet cables., so not fussed about WIFI for those.
I understand the mini boxes act as WIFI extenders too. WIll they still act like this if only 2.4GHz is chosen? Or do they only work when 5GHz is sekecred too?
Thanks

Hiya, hoping someone could help me on this as well.
I have a device which must connect ONLY to 2.4ghz. So, I have followed the instructions. Every time I try to change the name of one of the SSID's and select APPLY I lose internet connection and nothing happens. I have to refresh safari and when I go back into the settings nothing has changed.
Any assistance would be great please. Thanks
