Can't connect printers to wifi

Hi,

I have a standard Sky Hub router, about a year old.  It's been working perfectly.

I noticed a couple of days ago that my ancient printer had dropped off the wifi network.  I couldn't get it back on, and assumed that it had finally given up the ghost.  However, having purchased a new printer I can't get that to connect either. The app (of course you need an app these days to install a printer) can find the network, and prompts me for a password.  Neither the WPS PIN nor the Network Key are accepted.  I've tried both several times, just in case of typos.

Other devices that were already connected to the wifi network (phones, iPads, etc) are all still connected and work as usual.

I am therefore stumped.  I haven't changed any of the router settings.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?  I suppose I could just return the printer and buy a different one, but I think I may find myself in an endless cycle of swapping one printer for the next.

Re: Can't connect printers to wifi

Right, sorry, some further reading of other posts on this site seems to have provided the answer.  In case someone else finds this post first, rather than one of the older ones, here's the fix that worked for me:

1) Log into router (via your web browser)

2) Click the Wifi link in the menu bar across the top

3) Scroll down to the Wifi Access Point section

4) Untick the box marked Synchronise 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings

5) Click the Apply button at the bottom of the page

I have no idea why that worked, but it did.  Thank you to the people who answered that question elsewhere on this forum.

Re: Can't connect printers to wifi

Hi, I had same problem and considered changing sky router settings but was concerned about creating problems with SkyQ. Decided to install tp-link AV-600 Powerline with TL-WPA4220. This provides a 2.4GHz WiFi signal to connect devices that only work on this freq, everything else connects direct to Sky router. I kept a separate SSID for this rather than syncing with same SSID.

Re: Can't connect printers to wifi

Hi so tried to do this but once O click on the WiFi tab it asks me to log on with a username and password but so don't know what to enter for this. I tried to enter my WiFi name and password but this doesn't work. I seen an old post that said to try to admin and sky but this didn't work either. How did you log on?

@SandraMDuncan

Below are the default credentials, depending on what Hub you have:

Re: Can't connect printers to wifi

It's normally

username: admin

password: sky

The password might be your Wi-Fi password.

This worked an absolute treat and was a simpler version to what I had seen in previous threads. Thank you so much, to saved me buying another printer. You're an absolute super star for taking the time to post this. Massive gratitude! 🙏

@Jo-Jo70Which router do you have from the link below. Is this so you that you can split the Wi-Fi frequencies to try and get your printer installed on your network?

Re: Can't connect printers to wifi

@WombatDeath sorry can't seem to reply to your reply. I've logged in to my router and the synchronised box isn't ticked anyway?
