Continue watching / progress not saved

We just got Sky Glass last week and I've seen a lot of posts about this issue, but no proper solution? I can't believe this has been going on for over a year without being rectified?

There is no progress saved for any show we watch apart from Netflix shows. For example we are on season four of Succession and every time I access it from the playlist they are all unwatched and S1 E1 is showing as the next episode. Same with Coronation St, no progress saved at all. Coming from an old Sky HD box, where it worked perfectly to this useless mess is hard to take.

The 'continue watching' rail shows only Netflix shows, nothing else. Is there a solution to this? It seems like such a basic problem.

@Fugnanger

It differs from day to day and user to user .....

a "work in progress" is my best offering to describe it

I've learnt to live without the feature .... it makes it more bearable ....

My fellow user @Fothergill1 does have some pointers on how to best use the feature though ... hopefully he will read this and post them for you

@Fugnanger It is incredible to believe that the Sky streaming platform has been going for 2 years and they still haven't sorted out the continue watching rail and the progress bars.  These are my 2 biggest issues with Glass/Stream (not the hardware which in general I don't have a problem with).  I find the blue progress bar at the bottom of an episode icon lasts for a few days and then disappears and I have not been able to find a solution.

When it comes to the continue watching rail the opposite seems to occur in that programmes I have fully watched just sit on the rail and don't drop off as they should.  Also and possibly even more annoying is when you part watch something and don't want to continue with the episode or series and there is no easy way to remove it from the CW rail without a lot of faffing about (and even then it doesn't always work).

What @Jporch316 is referring to is I got so fed-up with trying to remember how to remove programmes from different Apps from the CW rail that I drew up a list of the different methods to help me remember.

The most common method which generally works with Sky, Discovery, ITVX  and Disney is to select the programme from the CW rail and fast forward it to the end.  If it is a series then also run the last episode of the series to the end otherwise the next episode will appear in the CW rail.

Depending on the App you watched from there are so many different ways to remove programmes from CW. Some you have to do on your TV and others on your Laptop etc.  This is why I decided to make my list and hopefully this will help you as well:

Do on Glass TV:

Apple TV - select from Up Next list with a LONG press / remove

Netflix - Select from CW / remove from CW on next page

Sky, Discovery, ITVX & Disney - run programme to credits and allow to run to the end.  If a series do the same with the final episode of the series.  (It may take a while to disappear)

My5 - Go to settings and select Clear Watch History

Do on laptop:

BBC iPlayer  - CW / Manage full list (on right of screen) / remove

Ch4 / CW - go to My4 > / edit / select then remove

Paramount  - CW / edit (right of screen) / delete

Sometimes it can take a while for the programme to disappear and on other occasions they stubbornly remain. It's a bit of a lottery.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Re: Continue watching / progress not saved

@Fothergill1 @Jporch316 Thank you both for your replies. I have been having more luck with progress bars on the apps themselves (itvx etc) but that's no use for sky programmes like succession. Thanks for the advice on removing things from Continue Watching, I'm sure that will come in handy at some point but for now there's still nothing there apart from Netflix shows.

It's a shame they can't seem to sort this, as the general Sky Glass experience otherwise is good.

Re: Continue watching / progress not saved

@Fugnangeri seem to be having a similar issue to yourself, however for me it has been working fine across most apps for over a month (not had it that long either) but has now, in the last week, not started playing on any Sky content where i left it.

If I go to a series I can see the white bar showing how far I have got, but when I play the episode it goes right back to the beginning with no prompt (I.e. start from beginning etc). Noticed it with all Sky content I am watching currently which is getting rather annoying to try and remember where about I was.

I have Sky Stream so similar OS to the Sky Glass.

Anyone got any ideas, is this something for me to raise with Sky support or is it a known issue.
