Stuck running the previously watched programme

I've had Sky Glass since September 2024, and for only the last week or two I've started having a strange occurrence which is getting irritating.

My children and I have been watching most things through apps.

When the TV is turned back on (doesn't matter how long after it was turned off, could be 2 hours or 2 days) it is already/still playing the previous programme in the background with no way of turning it off. It will just sit trying to load a different programme until a message pops up saying it's failed to load. The TV then has to be turned off unplugged for it to stop the programme running in the background. This is starting to get rather annoying and worrying as I have the medium sized TV and the plugs are all behind it so I cannot reach the plug easily without the TV almost toppling off the unit it's on.

Does anyone reckon this is a general problem others can have, or a technical fault isolated to my TV that means it needs to be exchanged?

Has anyone else had this problem and found a resolution, please?

Have you tried exiting the app before you turn the TV off?

Re: Stuck running the previously watched programme

Yes, when I realised it happening I started to pause the programme and exit viewing it but staying within the app and turning the TV off, thinking that would resolve it but the fault kept happening. I then started to paise the programme, exit viewing and completely come out of the app but the TV is too smart for its own good and seems to be remembering what we were last watching and still continues to play it 😅

Out of interested as you pressing "back" to exit the app, or chooseing the exit option on the app's menus where avaialble or just pressing the home button to get back to the Sky home screen? If you are pressing the home button its not actually closing the app.

@MarkGoldsmith this was my instinct too. Sometimes app feel 'closed' on SkyOS but they're still running in the background. Some apps like Netflix have a specific exit button on their sidebar which exits the app entirely. Others present an option if you press "back" enough times.

Re: Stuck running the previously watched programme

I'm choosing the exit option, we don't use the home button at all.
