Sky+HD box does not turn on

Sky box worked yesterday with remote.  
Today we cannot watch sky as cannot turn it on. 

The remote works fine to switch on TV and alter volume and mute but the pressing the SKY button does nothing.  The red light on the remote flashes but the sky box does not come on. The display on the right hand side of the sky box remains the same colour. RED or AMBER. 
I've switched all plugs off and then on again several times but no result. 
Any helpful ideas would be welcome!

Thank you Mark. I've now tried that 3 times. No different. I guess I'll have to call the Engineer.thanks

@Michael4Sky most likely the hard disk has failed and the box will need replacing. You could source your own replacement used box (there are no new Sky+ boxes) from the likes of ebay etc. as an alternative to booking an engineer. Or you could take the opportunity to negotiate a cheap upgrade to Sky Q perhaps.
