Freeview on sky+HD & MUTV Channel

Hello to all that may help.

I have a old Sky+HD wifi box purchased in 2016,

I have a Skyviewing Card in the slot & I have found that some of the Freesat HD Channels are not working.

1, ITV2 HD

2, ITV3 HD

3, ITV4 HD

& A few others that are part of the HD freeview channels.

I tried many times to reactivate the card in the slot. also tried the box update Infact all has been tried.

There is no way i can give my details of the sky+HD & card details i have because no one in Tech support understands that I do not want to subcribe to sky signature all I want is what i should get for free as part of the free viewing channels & i wanted to Subcribe to the MUTV package BUT I can not do this because i have no sky subcription signature package??

why can i not have only what i would like to have as asked above  the free ITV2 HD 3HD 4HD & OTHER HD & The MUTV subscription with nothing else, Why is SKY UK asking me to pay for a subcription i do NOT want.

To me it seems they are bang out of order when all i want Is the channels i have said above.

Please can some one tell me why this is not possible?

@anmutv the HD variants of ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 are not Freesat channels. Freeview is available only with a TV aerial, not via satellite.

MUTV Is only available with the basic Sky package because that's what Sky has agreed with MUTV.

Re: Freeview on sky+HD & MUTV Channel

Thank you for the reply.

So if we wanted any Private Subcription to be active in a sky+HD receiver with out a package from sky uk EG there smallest package at a rip off price, then we arn not allowed to get a private subcription to any other package is what i think you are saying.

so not chance of BT Sports or MUTV or even the Adults channels if some one likes to view those companies tv viewing ?  basicly sky uk is forcing people to sub to them to get the private channels.

My answer is NO THANKS, This is corruption from skyuk wanting to get as much money as they can, where a few years ago skyuk would have no issues with a non sky sub & allow to sub to other Providers.

I do not like this at all when we should have freedom of choice and not be forced to get a sub from sky to allow me to watch MUTV or even BT Sports if i wanted that as part of my enjoyment to watch these providers without a sky subcription.

Again thank you for the reply but i still see this as Corruption & a Way of making easy money by force.

Um, yes, because it's their platform and EPG service?  'Freesat from Sky' is no longer a supported product: a Sky+ HD box without a Sky subscription is a basic Freesat receiver only and does not use a viewing card.  The current baseline Sky offering is 'Essentials' which is Freesat on a Q box (including recording, playback and apps) bundled with 35Mbs FTTC broadband and Sky Talk.

Your expectations are unrealistic. Sky provide their services on a commercial basis.

You do have freedom of choice - to find another provider.

Re: Freeview on sky+HD & MUTV Channel

I will at some point phone BT Sports & MUTV,

Just to see if there is another way to get the subcription package,

What I do think it this, SKY UK are Charging MUTV & BT Sports so not only wanting Money from the forced subcription from sky uk but also making money from the companies.

These are my thoughts & I do see this as Greed & Corruption.

Thanks all that replied.

@AnonymousK39

Your correct about commecial practice they are also making thousands of profits on tv adds.

I will not give up my sky+hd box and just watch the channels I can get with freesat I will look into getting the channels i ask for via another route & bingo sky uk loose out.

Neither you or I can know. It might be a commercial agreement based largely on mutual benefit. Only the parties involved would know the contractual, terms. Ultimately, like any other commercial enterprise they're all in business to make a profit.

Manchester United plc engaging in secretive corporate deals to extract maximum profit from a dodgy investment?

Surely not...
