The signal randomly goes away and then comes back.
Recordings are interrupted so often missing chunks of a programme.
It keeps asking me to restart my box

Sky have checked remotely but they aren't keen on my still having a Sky plus hd box.

As far as I'm aware, Sky can't check your signal remotely. You would need to follow Mark's instructions above.
Yes, Sky are keen to move everyone from Sky+HD onto other services, but that doesn't mean you have to if you would rather not.

He said he was doing something technical in the background.
This is after my complaining that I had been a sky customer for 26 years and was irked that I was told I will get no support because I was using a sky plus box.
In my opinion, they are far superior so I want to continue to use it

Without that it's hard to know whether it's a box issue, though much more likely to be a dish problem. If it's a dish problem, you could engage a local satellite engineer to sort it out for you.
