Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Hi does anyone have guidance for configuring a TP-Link AX3000 (Archer AX53) I followed the exact advice from another thread to no avail. I've spent hours trying to get it to work.

Not sure if you've managed to get your router working but have you tried the info found here:

https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/TP-Link-AX3000-with-Sky-FTTP/td-p/4106461

I have the AX55 and this got me up and running in no time.

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

What router do you have as many have been mentioned in this thread?

If it's the archer c80 it should work with the Dynamic IP internet connection type

IPV6 needs to be enabled, WAN connection type needs to be set to Normal and get IPv6 address needs to be set to Static.

I've recently switched to the AX55 though as I had many issues with IPv6 on the c80.

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

My amplifi alien was working for a good 8 months until I had to do a reset. Now I can't remember how I got it to work in the first place ☹️

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

It sounds like you need to enable option 61 on your router. There is an extensive thread on the matter here:

Hopefully this can help

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Is there anything you need to do after changing th settings and pressing save.  Should it just then connect or do I have to to do something else ?

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

It should just connect but it can take around 30 minutes for openreach network terminal to authentiate with a new router. If it still hasn't connected after that reboot both your router and ONT and wait for it to authenticate.

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Doesn't work. Sold it to a friend who will use it for sky normal fibre. Didn't lose any money so not to bad

What Asus routers do you recommend I see a Asus 87u for £50 but read nightmares of the 5ghz channel dropping all the time?

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

@Outsharked Did you get something else instead?  I was considering the Best WiFi Pro but as it looks like it will need to be plugged into the Sky Router I'm not sure that is the best choice.  Did you buy it directly from Google?  Are they OK with it being opened and used before sending it back?

Thanks,

Paul
