Hello
I was due to get a fiber line put into my 1st floor flat today. The openreach engineer did turn up but didn't speak to me. Within 20 minutes he had driven off and the status site had changed to the engineer couldn't complete the job and to contact the service provider. I spoke with a great lady within sky who checked and said they needed a multi skilled engineer and that someone from sky would likely contact me tomorrow. However I've contacted BT who are cutting my Internet of at midnight tonight and they aren't intrested in continuing it for a few days/ weeks in the meantime. I will therfore have to go to the office for work until the fiber line gets put in.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if the reschedule for a multi skilled engineer is a few days or longer? If it is longer would sky be able to reactive the old line as the new sky router does have a broadband socket that I could use the old cable with in the meantime?
Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreOpenreach staff have been on strike today so it was most likely a sub contractor who turned up (Kelly Communications or similar). I'm not sure if they've announced the next strike day(s) yet.

Probably not: ISPs typically won't provide FTTC while waiting for FTTP installation to be completed because that would cause them to be charged two sets of initial wholesale fees which your subscription would not cover.

According to my neighbour who is an Openreach engineer, they won't do a FTTC activation if FTTP is available for installation. Apparently this policy doesn't apply to business broadband provisions.
