Taking mobile with LTE (not VoLTE) to USA

We're holidaying in the USA (Vegas) in a few months. Unfortunately our phones (Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro) only have LTE and not VoLTE as an option (Sky sim) - I understand USA mobiles now need a VoLTE phone to make voide calls. I'd be grateful for some advice. Is it possible to...

1) Use something like WhatsApp via WiFi only to make phone/video calls to my contacts?

2) If yes for WhatsApp, I'm guessing that also means no landlines/non-WhatsApp recipients?

3) Can I use my saved piggy bank data (will be at least 200GB) for 'data-only' things like google maps and surfing while away from a WiFi source?

4) Is there a daily limit on the piggy bank data I use (google maps and surfing only, so should be low)?

5) I understand there might be a £2 per day charge to do this (that's ok) - Sky Passport?

6) Would I have to manually set a daily cost limit of £2 when I land?

7) Would the rest of the configuration be automatic? - and could I receive the config settings using data-only LTE only?

😎 Would I need to manually select a particular provider for the sim data use?

I'm hoping not to have to buy new VoLTE phones. Mobiles are damn expensive.

Thanks for any help.

To answer your questions:

1. You can yes if they can WhatsApp as well.

2. That is correct.

3. You can if it will work as there is no guarantee that it will due to the VoLTE issue.

4. I don't think so.

5. The £2 daily charge kicks in when you make a call, use more than 10,b of mobile data which you might not be able to do. Using Wifi only should not see you charge if you don't do any of these away from Wifi.

6. You can see a spending limit if you want but it needs to be 2 multipkued by the number of days you are out there.

7. It should be automatic, if not you can change the settings via mobile data on your device. You do not need to do this if you are using Wifi only.

Re: Taking mobile with LTE (not VoLTE) to USA

Thank you for the info. The only remaining question is will using only an LTE connection allow me to access my piggy bank data (and the required text messages and control file sent by Sky when we land to do this) ?
