Chinese embassy scam calls

I've been getting  'Chinese embassy' scam calls for months now, usually at least 2 a day
I've blocked and deleted them all but they keep coming. (always an 07 number)

Latterly I've not picked up, but they still go to voicemail. Really annoying

Talking to family and friends, no one else seems to be getting them - I'm the only one on the Sky network.

Surely it can't just be on Sky??

Any recommendations on how I can stop them coming through. I know I could block calls not in my contacts list, but don't really want to do this as I understand it also blocks calls where the number is withheld. 

As a primary contact for my elderly mum I don't want to block any calls from the NHS or similar

What phone do you have as sometimes you can report them as spam type calls so they can be blocked.

It's an iphone 13, can't see an option to report as spam, only block

Just puzzled why none of my family/friends are getting them

How long have you had your current number? Did the calls start as soon as you took that number over?

Some how these spammers have got your number, either via a website hack or more likely that they are using software to randomly target numbers like you. So just because you are getting them doesn't mean that everybody else on the Sky network will.

You might be able to install an app that can help block spam calls as per the second part of this article from Apple:

I've had my number since 2018, it's only recently that I've been inundated with these calls

I use the whocalled app & while it doesn't block these calls it does indicate whether the call is spam or scam allowing to choose whether to answer or not.

I tried the Hiya app, but no success with that
Another 6 calls today, so I've set unknown callers to silence and they now go straight to voicemail.

Still very annoying but doesn't disturb/interupt me as much

No tbh I didn't try the other app as if it only suggests it's spam I assume the phone still rings (and that's the bit I want to stop most)

Silencing unknown callers is working to that affect and I just spend time blocking the new numbers and deleting their voicemails

Odd that whilst abroad for a few days I only had 2, yesteday a record 6! 😞

Yeah, that's the downside. Usually call blocking is a premium feature.

Just recently started getting these calls too, I've been a Sky customer since 2020 and had my number for a long time before that. I can't keep up with blocking all the numbers the amount that come in. Same thing, always from an 07 number.

I have started getting these calls for last month or so sometimes several times a day! I block the numbers but they just keep calling! It's getting really annoying 😞

Blocking the numbers is pointless as they are spoofed and continually change.
