  There's a list of utopian films on IMDb if you're interested. Can't get the link to work, so do a search online for " utopian sci-fi films " & IMDb should be the first hit.

A quick glance would suggest dystopia is winning, at least for entertainment value ; )

I guess the numerous Star Trek appearances are because the 'good guys' usually come through in the end.
