Suddenly I am being asked to put a viewing card into my Sky +HD box to view about 30 programmes linked to Sky. I can access all others via the Sky controller. There is NO access port for a viewing card on the SKY HD box! I have no viewing card. There has been no such problem for ten years...it suddenly occurred a week ago when I tried to view a recorded Nordic Noir film. 83...severely disabled...this has become a serious burden!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAll Sky+ boxes have a viewing card slot behind a door on the front right of the box, you cannot view subscription channels without a viewing card or record/playback so you will have a card in the box if these things are working

I am being asked to replace the viewing card in MY Sky HD box...I can find no place to insert a card, let alone change it! Have written to SKY but obtained no advice,,,,,,,SKY has worked perfectly well for 10+yrs, it has suddenly denied me access to about 30 channels!
All else works fine in the room where the SKY + HD box sits AND it works well in an upstairs bedroom in the MORNINGS....BUT AT NIGHT, I cannot access the Sky channel menu to select the programme I wish to view. Someone must go down, select the channel on the living room TV, switch the set off BUT then that same programme can be accessed in the bedroom. IF I need to change the channel a second time, someone must go downstairs and select the new channel! I am 83 and severely disabled. A CHAT on the SKY Facebook site began by being constructive but then ended with asking me to go to links that proved unhelpful(well, unhelpful to me!)...last month SKY billed me for £102 for the month. That has crept up serially for 6/12! CHAOS

I assume it's an on screen message telling you this? All Sky+ boxes have a Viewing Card hidden behind a flap on the front panel. On my DRX895 Sky+ box, the flap is on the right hand side at the bottom of the front panel. Just pull it to open, and the Viewing Card is in a slot inside.

Annie + told me where the card can be found! I found it...then I discovered TWO other cards, in a drawer under the TV and SKY +HD box. I tried all three and nothing worked! My issue was then,, "Why did not Sky tell me where the access to the card slot lay?" BUT then I discovered a FOURTH card, that was posted to me ahead of the guy who was to set me up with a SKY Q BOX. He said he could not do that as I would then be able to have TV from the Sky box in the bedroom! he left without doing anything...I then had a small problem getting my payment back, but I did. The card was still stuck to the letter that it came attached to...to be given to the engineer when he came. I TRIED that card!!!! AMAZINGLY, it worked...I suddenly have access to the 31 channels that had been denied to me! I should have tried the 'Community Forum' earlier BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE HELP I RECEIVED!
Am now in the bedroom and all is working as before...I was in the living room 20 mins ago and all was fine there. I can again access 'Planner' and 'Catch up'...BRILLIANT.
Istill need to know why and for what my payment to SKY was £102 on the 11th May! the MOST it has ever been. What am I getting for over £1oo, and, if this continues, for over £1,200 over the next 12/12?

SKY could/should have told me this on their Facebook messenger conversation! I FOUND it!

That was "Annie+UK" who gave me the first advice...MANY THANKS.

ANNIE+UK got there ahead of you BUT, many thanks,. ALL is now fine...after three false start attempts with old cards and then using a Sky Q Box card that had been posted to me for a Q box installation that never happened.
I will come here for advice if any future problems arise!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Rikard58 it's a shame you didn't mention about your aborted switch to Sky Q before, as we would then have understood exactly what the issue was!
When you sign up to Sky Q, your Sky+ Viewing Card is automatically scheduled to be disabled at some point in the future. Unfortunately the disabling process isn't undone if you subsequently don't go ahead with Sky Q. That's why your Sky+ Viewing Card stopped working.
When that happens, you either have to have a new Viewing Card or, if you've been sent a Viewing Card for the Sky Q box, you can use that - which is what you've now discovered.
All's well, that ends well anyway. Glad you're up and running again.

VERY MANY THANKS...I will come here with any future problems concerning SKY.
The failed/aborted installation of the SKY Q box was more than 3 months ago!
How do I access what I am paying for, at SKY? It is going UP each month! My viewing has not changed for years and I thought I just had a 'basic' package.

@Rikard58
Could your previously discounted deals have expired? You would have been notified of their end date when you first took them out but at present you don’t get reminders prior to them ending. If the discounts have ended you will need to call Sky to try to negotiate a new deal which will require another minimum term contract, although Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount. If you sort something to your satisfaction make a note of the date it’s ending.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/been-overcharged may help explain.
Also factor in the annual price increase effective from April’s bills in the UK.
