Connection to Sky+HD box for new LG 27TQ615S.

We have just replaced our kitchen tv with an LG smart tv (as above).  We have always got Sky on the kitchen set via a Sky cable around the house directly from the Sky+ box into the aerial socket of the tv.  You then had to go to channel 901 (on the tv 's remote) and then work via the magic eye and the Sky remote.  (We only get, of course, the same Sky picture as we do on the main set - which is not a problem).  I have replicated the connections on the new set, but do not know how to get to the Sky set-up.  The instructions for the LG do not seem to help!  So help, please!

You need to use the tv's setup menu to scan for tv channels, ,making sure your Sky box is connected and turned on when you do it. If your tv offers the option, make sure the analogue tuner is selected.

@GlynL  you may find that your new TV may not have an analogue tuner.

Many new Tvs do not & even some that list it specs sometimes do not show an option in 'UK spec' TV  menus as we have not had analogue TV for many years now

The online spec suggests that it does, but tv specs aren't always accurate.....

Thanks nigea and Mark.  Just to say that I can get all the Freeview channels quite happily, plus the LG ones.  It's just the Sky connection I can't get at.  There is an option to choose Antenna  and Sattelite as inputs and I have chosen both, but with no luck.  I don't remember how I got the channel 901 (and thus into the Sky option) on the old set, but the Sky cable went through a  TvLink (which has a magic eye attached) and then into the aerial socket. As I mentioned I have replicated these connections, but no luck so far!  Glyn

Choose antenna, then you should get an option of Digital (Freeview) or Analogue, you'll need analogue and make sure the sky box is not in standby or the TV will not find the signal

@GlynL just to add - if your Sky box is using the default channel 68 for its analogue output channel, a new TV won't find it. That's because newer TVs won't tune above channel 60 and in some cases, above channel 50.

If that's the case, you'll need to change the RF Output Channel in your Sky box Installer Menu to a channel below 50.

To get to the Installer Menu, key Services,0,0,1.Select on your Sky remote. Don't wait for the screen to change after each key press, and don't pause between key presses.

Then rescan for channels.

@GlynL  This may not help but on my Panasonic I only seem to get an analogue option under an 'Add TV Signal' option in the menu

Thus do check all menu items in the Tuning Menus

Re: Connection to Sky+HD box for new LG 27TQ615S.

I have now also spoken to Sky themselves.  It seems that the magic eye extension to my Sky+HD box requires a tv with an analogue tuner, which, of course, my LG, along with apparently all modern smart tvs, does not have.  So it looks as though I am stymied!  But thanks for your help.

@GlynL that's not necessarily the case. As I posted before, the online spec for your TV model states that it has an analogue tuner.

Hi Mark.  It seems that my LG does not have an analogue tuner - if it does, then I haven't found it!  But thanks for your help.  Glyn

As I mentioned, it is possible that the 'UK' menus don't give the options even if the TV physically has one.

I do, however, want to make sure that you have checeked all sub menus just in case, like, my Panasonic, the option is not hiding in an obscure place

In fairness to the manufacturers, there's been no analogue television signal broadcast in the UK for well over a decade...
