There's no difference between Ultrafast 1, Ultrafast 2 (Plus) and Gigafast over FTTP other than the speed band: it's all Openreach optical cable, an ONT and a Sky Broadband Hub.

The complication is that Ultrafast 1 is also available on G.fast, which is a completely different technology where data enters the subscription premises over existing copper phone wiring.

Does your existing Ultrafast arrive at a 'telephone' wall socket or an ONT (large white Openreach box with multiple LEDs)?

It's running with an ONT

In that case there should be no need at all for any kind of technician attendance.  Moving up (or down) the FTTP speed band range is a head-end process carried out remotely.
