When I run the speed check on my Sky account it always says no issues and the download speed is showing as 14mbps. I have used independent broadband speed checks are they range from around 1 to 3 ?
my Netflix and prime video are buffering really badly so are Sky misleading me on the download speed?????

@AndyMorph
Sky's speed check is the speed that arrives at the Hub. Whereas other speed checkers are to the device they are being run on and if that device is connected wirelessly the results will almost always be lower than that of the Sky run test.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@AndyMorph speed tests run on devices report the slowest part of the connection. This is often the wifi jump from the hub. See here for suggestions to improve that Sky Help - Slow wifi
The othercexplanation is something else is usingbthe link when you run the test. Lots of apps download updates etc when not in use, with a slow connection like yours that could easily be happening. Makecsure you only have one devicecconnected when running tests.

Important to note that 14Mbs is still pretty bad: that's presumably either ADSL (with less than a single megabit of outbound capacity) or FTTC on the end of a very long length of copper from the fibre cabinet.
If you post your Hub stats, we'll have some information about your particular phone line and internet connection to work with.
Note that it's speed arriving at the Hub which counts against the minimum speed guarantee, not speed test website results on a wireless device.

After 2 weeks with Sky and a so called 500 Meg fibre pipe I think that she Sky speed checker is very missleading. Sky claim we have 500 meg and yet any device shows 200 max. It is hard to see how the router can steal 60% of the bandwidth.
We use https://www.speedtest.net

Yes - See that it an estimate. After 3 weeks of Sky and Fibre have decided that the line may be offering 500 Meg to the router. However the Sky router just can't seem to cope with Fibre speeds.
Sky router replaced by Asus AX58U and wi-fi speeds now show close to 500Meg.
Thanks.

The best suggestion I can give you is to use https://broadbandtest.which.co.uk/ . Provide as much information as you can to “Which”. The more data that Which receives the greater the evidence they will have to lobby for better transparency from broadband suppliers regarding their broadband speed promises.

Different tools give vasty different scores.
Same Mac Pro seconds apart. Either 51Mbs or 263Mbs. On Wireless. Both a lot less than the 500 purchased!

It also depend on whether it's a wired or wireless connection.

Yes wired and wireless vastly diffrerent.
But so do the tools.
Which reports: 193.4 Mbps with Upload speed 71.4 Mbps
Yes SpeedTest shows DOWNLOAD Mbps 418.81 UPLOAD Mbps 77.55

Understand about conditions. But 100% variance seems super large... Have more trust in SpeedTest than the others...

Try this speed tester
Appears to be the most accurate in my opinion
