Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@NigelNigelNigel TNT is owned by Discovery (Warner Brothers) not Sky, therefore any subs to TNT goes to them.

Exactly my sentiments. My Sky box is telling me go here, go there, this drop down menu, now log into your account via your laptop etc round and round in circles chasing my tail, then right at the last it's "sorry, no lol". Absolute con.

I created a discovery plus account today, linked it to sky as it is supposed to be a free add-on. Log in, select free europa league final stream and it asks me to subscribe to TNT. Wasted the entire first half of the match trying to resolve it. Very frustrating.

You're not telling me Sky don't make anything from signing up to a TNT subscription via them?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@NigelNigelNigel It would be nowhere near what they get for their own channels, the reasons have been posted above and is down to how Discovery want to do this with their content and subscription tiers across other platfiorms.

I couldn't get it to work through Sky just directed me to TNT to subscribe so I downloaded Discovery on iPad and AirPlay to tv

Discovery customer chat said it's not available via sky free discovery plus but it works signing into your same free account on TV app (not through sky app) .
Don't get it 🤷♂️

@JoshBec not sure thats true as @lettice and myself were both able to view it through the discovery+ app on Sky. I have Sky Q and @lettice Sky stream so it was possibe there are pictures on page 1 of it working.

Frankly I find it largely irrelevant. My experience as a customer and a consumer matters little to them it seems. I don't care about the dynamic, feuds, squabbles that exist between these giant corporations, they should sort it out amongst each other in order to better serve their collective customers. Why do we, as consumers, expected to have this knowledge and navigate blindly for ourselves through their mire of licencing, rights, clambering for subscriptions etc? Sounds lilke you're sticking up for them and making a them problem into an us problem.

Whatever the issue was, UEFA gave this match to Discovery Plus to show for free in the UK and it looks like some people, myself included, could not access it without Discovery Plus forcing you into a TNT subscription first. I didn't want a TNT sub, so I wasn't able to watch the match. I am not sure UEFA will be over the moon at that when they check to see how things went. Just put it on YouTube next time, UEFA.

I agree. And here's rhe reality check. The only people on this chat trying to tell us everything is OK and Sky are the good guys....are Sky Superusers. They make it very clear that they are not Sky employees but they might as well be when you see that they have to sign an NDA as part of the sign up process and receive all sorts of perks.

@NigelNigelNigel Superusers are genuine customers as well. You will find that we superusers also critisise Sky as well when things go wrong, but it's always the same we dare to say we can watch something or we are not having the same problem and we are not genuine customers we are sky fan boys etc, etc. Sometimes pointing out it does work shows people its possible and may not be Sky fault and may be some other reason for the problem or it may still be skys fault but we are lucky. Personally if it was a major major problem i would have expected a lot more complaints about this than there was and yes it shouldn't happen to anyone.
My post above I was pointing out to @JoshBec that the statement made by Discovery+ to them, that it wasn't available through the Discovery+ app on Sky was wrong.
It seems that most people (i'm not saying this was the case for all people) that weren't able to watch it had not previously signed up for the free offer of Discovery+ on Sky and were trying to do this as well and having problems doing this.
I also said on page 1 that I also had probems when I first tried as I tried from the icon on the Q homepage but when i went in through the discovery+ app and I had to sign into that again and get another activasion code i managed to get in and was able to watch the match

It doesn't explain why the action of diverting the user to a TNT Sports subscription, when trying to access the Discovery+ free content, was only an issue when trying to access the content through the Sky box. I logged into my Discovery+ account on my laptop and was able to watch it there with zero hassle and no insistence on a TNT subscription. Solved the problem but it was a hassle I shouldn't have had to deal with.

The Discovery+ app on Q has always been a bit weird though: we think that's to accomodate the 'free' tier.

@Toferino Did you create your discovery+ account through Sky originally and can you watch free content when logged into the discovery+ app through Sky ?
I'm sure you know this but there were 2 feeds on the discovery+ app one with free on it which is what I chose i only went in to see if I was having the same problem as others had posted and was suprised that I was able to view it
I know there are many people having problems creating their free Discovery+ account which could be part of the problem
