With the upcoming price changes will I be able to downgrade or cancel my contract for free?

@JOHN-PAUL+G

Possibly with a Broadband subscription. The email or letter will arrive before 23 March and that should explain if that option is available.

Re: Upcoming price changes

yes you can. You can cancel your Broadband within a month of you receiving notification about the price increase. If you took out a TV package with your broadband you can also cancel this aswell. Be wary when moving to a new provider as they will have price increases aswell make sure you know how much it will cost after their price increase takes effect.

Not sure that's correct - the TV and broadband contracts are completely separate, with different conditions around early termination after price increases.

Re: Upcoming price changes

I worked for Sky as an advisor until recently. If the broadband was taken out with TV as a package then we were allowed to cancel the TV aswell in these two scenario's:  if they wanted to cancel due to the price increase within a month of recieving notification. Or if customers have a right to exit email because they have been recieving lower speeds than their gurunteed minimum for 30 days with no resolution they can cancel their BB minimum term early and their Sky Q subscription if it was taken out at the same time as a package 🙂

Re: Upcoming price changes

I was told today by an online chat Sky advisor that I can not leave my broadband contract until I recieve a right to exit email and if I leave from my price increase email I'll incur charges as I'm within contract period. Does this sound correct as everywhere else I've read states I can leave once notified of price increase penalty free.

@Ged55 my understanding is that you have the right to leave Sky broadband penalty free within 30 days of receiving the price increase notification from Sky.

Re: Upcoming price changes

Thats what I thought too. Just called to cancel and been told I have to wait until April and once the price increase has taken effect. If I wait until April the 30 days from being notified runs out. This is also different to what live chat advisor told me so now I dont know who is correct.

Thank you for the information, I shall try again tomorrow to cancel and see what I get told.

I called to cancel my sky subscription

I called to cancel my sky subscription. They said that they never send this email and early termination fees still apply. **bleep**!

@Ishan

I understand the post by @Mark39 to be correct. You can leave Sky Broadband penalty free within 30 days of receiving the price increase notification from Sky. That will come in the form of an email or letter and should land before March 23rd. The same does not apply to TV subscriptions.
