Re: SkyQ Blue Screen

+1 on this issue.  I'd already figured out it was something to do with regionalised or custom ads.  Probably something like MPEG-TS signals, switching over to custom ads and crashing the decoder.

i just turned off personalised TV ads in my sky account settings, just managed to watch an episode of the chase on challenge without it crashing during the break.  Will see how this progresses.

the most distressing bit about this is learning that personalised ads exists, having wondered why for the past few weeks I've seen so many adverts for funeral care!

You'll still see plenty of those adverts, it's nothing personal. The funeral industry are among the top spenders on UK TV advertising!

Re: SkyQ Blue Screen

It's done within your account in sky.com.  I found it reduced the frequency of issues but didn't eliminate them.   I was still rebooting my box every couple of hours if watching a channel with smart adverts.

the downsides are you'll be watching adverts that may be less relevant to you.

Re: SkyQ Blue Screen

To turn off personalised ads (Sky AdSmart) on your Sky Q box, you must change your privacy choices online via your Sky account dashboard, as this setting cannot be toggled directly through the TV remote settings. [1]

Step-by-Step Guide
  1. Log in to your official account on the Sky Personalisation Portal.
  2. Scroll down the page until you locate the section labeled Tailored TV Advertising.
  3. Toggle the switch to OFF (or uncheck the box) to opt out.
  4. Wait for the system to sync. It can take up to 24 hours for the updated privacy cache to push through to your physical Sky Q box. [1, 2, 3]

Good morning all,

I'm sorry to see you were having a problem with Sky Q over the weekend. I just wanted to jump in to confirm Sky are aware of the issue and continue to investigate. In the meantime a full reboot at the power of your Q box will resolve this temporarily until a permanent fix is put in place.

Re: SkyQ Blue Screen

Hi,

Ive been having this issue probably the last 5 days- almost relieved to know its not just me. However I have just ordered a new Sky Q box as the tv "fixes" said if it didn't improve that's what was needed. Just wondering if I am going to need a new box or if I should cancel but this is so annoying! Just want to sit and relax but sometimes I literally have to get up every half an hour to reboot everything!
