There won't be a timeframe for something like this as it would be impossible to say with any certainity problem needs to be diagnosed that alone could take time.

Re: Virgin internet connection problem

Makes you wonder if it is deliberate. If using Virgin is a problem then maybe more customers will switch to their broadband!

on the same line Virgin have their own streaming puck now that I'm guessing has no problems connecting!

No sign of a fix yet been down all day!

I have always been suprised how little regulatory pressure Sky have been under over the years in terms of PayTV when by any measure they were/are domaint PayTV company in UK.

Any such regulation would be regarding competition / monopoly, which did happen in the Murdoch era.

Subscription television itself is not an 'essential service' so operates under a lighter touch.

Re: Virgin internet connection problem

I think this could partly be Virgins responsibility as this coincides with an issue effecting swathes of VPN users being unable to connect when remote working. If sky equipment connects to its networks in a similar method to VPN then this could be the issue.

True kind of surprised how they never got forced to give Sky Atlantic access on Virgin as that really is a monopoly for content. True it's not essential but still compensation for loss of access is something I thought would of been regulated with how other things are treated.

The immediate answer is to roll back whatever change they made which has caused this issue. Whether that's sky or Virgin!

How long they take to fix it is totally separate.

I'd say with this type of issue, there isn't a timeframe because there is too much of a priority to get it fixed. It's a case of, find the issue, identify what's went wrong and implementing a fix with multiple teams all involved, so the real time scale is as soon as humanly possible 🙂

Re: Virgin internet connection problem

Thought I was going made, have been unable to get our Sky Glass to connect to the internet all day! We have a Virgin Hub 5.0, typically wired into our TV through Ethernet. Have tested all different ports and cables, and using WiFi, and nothing seems to work.

Any updates from Sky would be appreciated

Re: Virgin internet connection problem

@Chloe-W22 Thanks for the updates. I work in IT, ive been involved in large failures like this, involving multiple 3rd parties. They are not an easy fix if no change was recently implemented (im sure you both run a robust change control that could be quickly referred to) but the important thing is to give regular updates to those affected.  It will take as long as it takes, but keeping everyone in the dark just gets frustrating and results in anger.

Keep the updates coming, even if its to re-assure everyone its being taken seriously and everyone is actively working on it. It helps.

Re: Virgin internet connection problem

I'm using a SKY Q box with virgin Hub 3 - issues started earlier today. Its also posted on the Virgin status page now "tv issues" so just have to sit and wait it out. At least its their problem and not local. It seems only connected to Virgin and Sky Q/Glass ... my Roku ect all working fine.

Hope they fix today as was re-downloading all Game of Thrones for a rebinge tonight  😞

One of the benefits of having physical copies still well apart from less compression as well.
