losing ITVBE

ITVBE won't be available from the 9th as I don't subscribe to HD even tho it's a free channel. I have a message to say call for a free upgrade but they want to charge me....is anyone else having the same issue.

The SD version of ITVBe is a free to air channel. The HD version isn't. I'm surprised Sky would offer the HD add-on for free.

ITVBe HD is a  free channel. The issue is the SD version is closing down on satellite so viewers need a HD box; but SD box viewers are entitled to a free upgrade to Sky Q (to make sure they can still receive the BBC channels which are also closing this week) so i'm not sure why the OP is being asked to pay.

Likely because HD is an add-on to the basic Sky package. The last I checked the HD add-on still has to be added to a subscription on Sky Q whilst it's free on the Sky streaming platform.

As far as I'm aware the free upgrade Sky offer  is a free "upgrade to Sky Q" but you still need to add the HD pack onto your subscription to watch the HD channels.

Thanks. Looks like my reference source hasn't been updated yet. @Caz6uk assuming you currently have Sky+ did you receive the letter offering a free upgrade to Sky Q?

No, for free HD channels the HD add on isn't required whatsoever. The BBC and ITV HD channels are available to everyone with Sky Q even without the HD pack.

Further details at: https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/sky-hd-changes-explained/

"Some channels on Sky Q are available in HD at no extra cost, to all customers with the box. These include:

  • BBC One / Two / Three HD
  • ITV 1,2,3,4 HD (It used to be just ITV1, but the rest recently went free-to-air)
  • STV HD
  • Channel 4 HD (But not its ‘sister’ channels like E4 HD and Film4 HD)
  • Channel 5 HD
  • BBC News HD
  • … And more"

(ITV Be HD only launched on satellite last month so is not listed in this article)
