Good point @TimmyBGood - I am a fan of it and the way it unites apps and allows for 4k on all the apps too. I thought EE tv had potential as they sold it via the Apple TV , so you knew that the hardware was very good. I see EE now sells sky stream though so is that EE making a hasty retreat ?

With streaming we no longer have to use the providers hardware or base package we can choose whoever suits us best based on broadband\packaging\hardware\UI\pricing preference. It's possible stream just Sports (another provider offer it already) without a base package and Sky could do it via Stream if they choose to (they will at some point)
We can even just by a buy a streaming device and buy services as and when and in multiple rooms if you have multiple devices without a monthly subscription for the privledge.
Some people are even watching services bought via Sky (Netflix, Paramount) on other streaming devices with better watch list etc and more stable service.
Right now Stream wouldn't be my streaming device preference and it's certainly not packaged or price in a way that would make it my preference. That said Sky Q was undefeated, wouldn't suprise me one bit if I come back after future improvements.

I have just found this thread, which is good, as I am thinking of upgrading from sky+ HD
I hear that they have sorted out most of the issues to do with lag ect that were mentioned at beginning of this thread
Couple questions please
1. The Playlist. Not totally sure how this works, as I am used to recordings. How do you place a program or series in the playlist and once it it has been done, does it automatically put each one in the series here and then you just click to play it1?
2. Does the remote control operate basically the same as one I got now?
3. Does an engineer come oue to set it up for customers. I am disabled, so would need assistance?
Ohh, if I do it. What is the link to get code to program the new remote to operate my LG C2 tv
Thanks for your help

Still a long way to go and there are still too many intermittent issues - black screen / freezing
Until Sky take more ownership, rather than pointing the figure at our ISP / network, it won't improve
On a positive side, I do prefer it to Q particularly the menu and Home Screen etc especially for someone who is neurodivergent
At this stage, I would give stream 7/10

If we're scoring Stream out of 10 then for me it would be 9/10.
Sure it has a few niggles, but nothing that isn't normally resolved by turning the Puck off and on again.
Maybe my expectations are lower coming to Sky Stream from Virgin Media.

There isn't any in-premises support for Stream at all. Pucks are couriered and set-up is entirely DIY

1. Have a read of this Sky Q help article and watch the playlist video.
https://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-tv/sky-tv-stream/sky-stream-faqs/articles/sky-stream-faqs
Plus, read this article all about Playlist
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/your-playlist-and-tv-guide-sky-glass
2. All about the Sky Stream puck remote control is here;
3.There is no engineer for a Sky Stream puck. It is delivered by courier DPD for you to setup.
Setup is easy, any issues we will handhold you through them, the most common sometimes can be for activating.
Setup help article here;
4.No code is needed. On setup you select your tv manufacturer as LG. That model works fine with a puck.
The most important consideration for Sky Stream is to have a reliable broadband connection, either using wifi or ethernet connection.
Recommended minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps. Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD.

Hi @xblade
The playlist work similar to the record button in regards to you see something you want to record/bookmark and then press the + button. This then puts all available series of that program into your play list and will add the other episodes as an when they are aired or become available.
Not sure what remote you use now, but the remote for the Stream is nice to use and the voice control function works really well.
Sadly Sky do not send engineers to set up Sky Stream, but it is really easy to set up. I'm sure any of your family or friends could do it with guidance from yourself.
And finally, I also have a OLED LG C2, during the initial set up you are given the option to pair the remote to your TV for me this was really easy and they paired straight away.
I hope this answers some of your questions.
I get Stream isn't for everyone, but I've had it for about 6 weeks and I love it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@xblade Switching from Sky+HD to Sky Stream would be a massive change in how you watch TV. Research thoroughly (which I know is what you're doing here), don't rush the decision as there is no going back to Sky+HD if you don't like it (you could subsequently change from Stream to Sky Q).
04 Jan 2025 01:40 PM
You CAN go back to sky Q if you're unhappy with it and you are within the 31day cooling off period .
04 Jan 2025 01:42 PM
Yeah, I am feeling it will be a bigger jump for me and my nervousness is making me question doing it, especially when I am comfortable with sky+ hd
I understand that they are switching off the boxes at some point in the future - not sure which year. Why I was considering the move. Also, I need to find another BB provider (with talktalk just now ).
I might go with vodaphone just now and change when I am forced

My contract was up , I really considered moving over to Stream, but having seen all the niggly comments about it I decided to stay with Sky Q and got a reasonable deal after a lot of haggling and I mean a lot lol , I may go over to it in future once all the glitches have been solved , Truspilot reviews are damning , they put me off entirely.

Do research thoroughly. Stream is quite different from Sky+, both in the channels you have access to and the fact that there's no local storage for recordings. Everything is streamed.
In terms of Sky+HD boxes, Sky haven't announced any plans to switch them off, but ALL satellite services, Sky+ and SkyQ will likely end by the end of the decade as the existing satellites are decommissioned and not replaced.

Hi I have had sky stream several months now and although initially worked well this not the case going forward. I would say on a weekly basis have to do a hard restart on it and then remote doesn't work. I don't think it's a patch on the old q box and my relationship with sky has somewhat soured. Once the contract is up I will be trying alternatives as contacting sky is not easy. I would hate not to be tech savvy with this product as it is not easy. I am suspicious that they want you to move to sky glass and the puck is a separate product for other rooms. Sky isn't a good enough company with strong customer service to support this.
