Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

I can confirm what Ian says, simply enabling the feature, just as described, and then rebooting sorts it out.

I can also confirm this sorts the problem - on a brand new Asus i9 with 32GB! Was working fine on an old "incompatible" Windows 10 sneakily upgraded to 11 though! 

So annoying when it didn't work - but enabling hyperV did the trick 😁

Did anyone  find a work around for Windows Home 11? Got a new laptop couple of days ago and the app is so slow or just stops.

See above link. Simply installing virtual box seems to fix the issue (no need to use virtual box,  just install it)

Hi,

Has anyone tried to install Virtual Box on a Windows ARM PC?

Virtual Box doesn't appear to have a native ARM version and I was wondering if anyone had tried the X64 version on an ARM PC and if that solved the SkyGo issue?

Hi,  Is this a pro version of Windows? If si then enabling Microsoft Windows Hyper V does the exact same thing as installing Virtual Box (Hyper V not on Windows Home as standard but it can be done)

I might try the work around but I'm not sure SkyGo is worth the effort. I only really use it for the football and I can use SkySports for that.

Maybe one day Sky will sort SkyGo out for everybody!!

hi everyone. like seemingly 1000's of others, i have the same issue. i got exicted when i read simply enabling Hyper-V worked. then read that it is only on pro. but home does have hypervision platform. which sound remarkably similar. but alas, enabling that didn't work for me.

Oracle virtual box appears to do the job for 24H2 home that Hyper V does for 24H2 Pro

My guess  is that these configurations overcome the security cripples introduced by Microsoft in 24H2 which block Sky Go by opening paths to the Sky data sources.  Dont know enough to trace these and stuck for time at the moment to learn/work through diagnosesz

But this doesn't explain why the problem only occurs with a clean install of 24H2.   Clean install 23H2 first, then upgrade to 24H2 via Windows Update, and the problem does not occur.

Well, unless 23H2 has open pathways which 24H2 inherits without change - but the clean build has nothing to inherit ?

You are correct - it does not explain - but as above, its a guess at this point and I cant investigate further  at this time ...

My Lenovo gaming laptop was bought 18 months ago before 24h2. Good spec PC but still encountered this issue. It wasn't a 24h2 clean install.

Likewise - have the problem on another laptop which is a windows 10 to 11 upgrade.
