Sky Go App for Windows 11 not working properly

Perhaps there is more than 1 problem

Having Sky Go operate succesfully on 23H2 and then upgrading to 24H2 solved my problem.   Im convinced the problem evident on a 24H2 new install is linked to security changes - perhaps including encryption.

Has the Hyper V fix helped you or no ?

The problem is linked to encryption, I believe.  If you start Skygo, and select any BBC channel, it works fine.  But as soon as you select a non-BBC channel. even just ITV1, the problem starts. Going back to the BBC channel doesn't resolve the issue.  So it would seem some process is started that then runs continuously until you close it.

Interesting that my SkyGo doesn't have any BBC channels on it, on the guide - nor will it play any BBC on-demand content....

Yes the hyperV did sort it. It could be of course be that the win 11 install went straight from 10 to the latest 11 - I only updated very recently. 

And - I guess to prove the point, I also upgraded a desktop from 10 to 11 at the same time (unsupported for 11, but used the "server" install method to bypass) - and that worked ok - BUT it already had hyperV fully running.

Hi. To clarify

I dont think it is about stream encryption.  BBC want you to use iplayer app hence - I beleive -non-availability on Sky Go.

I refer to the security changes and the MS push to use (eg) BitLocker to encrypt your user data eg your SkyGo profile/parameters/settings/preferences etc. Im guessing SkyGo sets something at default which 24H2 writes to disc encrypted.

When you install 23H2 ( no encryption) you configure your own settings which work. When you update to 24H2 the migration scripts transfer user settings faithfully so SkyGo continues to work.   Using the 24H2 clean build does not have good data to transfer.   Again Ive been unable to dig any deeper so still some guesswork going on.  This may be completely wrong

No.  BBC want you to use iplayer - probably to ensure you confirm you have paid licence fee and to facilitate geo-location.

On Skygo you have access to BBC channels, and also BBC recordings, if you are connected to a Sky Q box like I am.

Just installing the Oracle VirtualBox, No managing things once installed, just left alone, And SkyGo works perfectly.

Hi 

I'm using windows 11 home V24H2 and was having the same problems with sky go. 

I looked in "Turn windows features on and off" to find an entry "Windows Hypervisor platform"

Ticked the box and clicked Ok -  windows found required files and then rebooted to apply. 

Sky go has been performing ok since, albeit a bit slow loading.

My point was that post 31 showed how the fix worked on windows 11 pro.

I am using windows 11 Home version and have found that the fix I outlined in my post seems to be working for my Windows 11 Home machine

Has anyone got it running correctly on Windows 11 Home on ARM?

Virtual Box will not install and I'm not keen on running script files for X64 on an ARM laptop.

Would be nice if Sky themselves took some interest in this issue.
