Amazon Prime Pay-Per-View French Football
I have just heard that Amazon Prime video in the U.K. have signed a deal for 3 matches a week priced at £ 2.39 p a game on PAY-PER-VIEW for the French football league. Pay-Per-View was never popular on Sky. I wonderifthis is a pre-louad to Pay-Per-View football in the E.P.L. and E.F.L. to finally end the 3 p.m. blackout of football on British t.v.

Nope. The reason these foreigns leagues are doing pay per view type streaming outside their domestic markets is because they have had a hard time getting any broadcast interest in their rights at the value they deem appropriate. Ligue Un and La Liga in particularly have had issues over the past couple fo years getting international broadcast deals so have been investigating streaming platforms/PPV models.

Also should probably also say that this is a bit off topic for this thread which is about the Eurosport closure, so perhaps a new thread would be more appropriate if you wish to discuss this topic further.

Ligue 1 did announce at the start of this season that they were doing a Ligue 1 pass, as a direct to customer, as they could not come to agree terms for UK broadcaster.
Premier League did try pay per view for a small bit in 2020/21 season. It was not popular (and that was a time when no one had anything else whatsoever to do) and quickly stopped.
There was a difference between selling rights in home market and foreign market.

Re: Amazon Prime Pay-Per-View French Football
I bumped in to a former employer of B.T. Sport back in the day. She was saying it will be much easier for T..N.T. to squeeze two channels of Eurosport in to 4 channels of T.N.T. Sports liner channels.
