Tuesday 1st April 2025

• U&W HD ROI closes on satellite only - the SD remains at 132
• U&W HD closes on satellite only - the SD remains at 132
• U&Yesterday HD closes on satellite only - the SD remains at 155 - 161 in ROI
• U&Alibi HD moves from 130 to 120 on Glass and Stream only in England, NI and Wales. They remain unchanged in Scotland and ROI
• U&Gold HD moves from 131 to 121 on Glass and Stream only in England, NI and Wales. They remain unchanged in Scotland and ROI
• U&Dave HD moves from 132 to 130 on Glass and Stream only in England, NI and Wales. They remain unchanged in Scotland and ROI
• U&W HD moves from 133 to 131 on Glass and Stream only in England, NI and Wales. They remain unchanged in Scotland and ROI
• U&Drama moves from 134 to 132 on Glass and Stream only in England, NI and Wales. They remain unchanged in Scotland and ROI

Thursday 3rd April 2025

• ​Sky Gangsters (Satellite 309 - Glass/Stream 309) changes name to renames to Sky Thriller HD (reverting from a temporary change)
• Sky Books To Screen (Satellite 302 - Glass/Stream 302) renames to Sky Adventure/ SkyAdventureHD (temporary change)

Friday 4th April 2025

      

• ​Sky Family (Satellite 306/850 - Glass/Stream 306) renames to SkyHarryPotter / HarryPotterHD​ (Temp)      
• ​Sky Hits (Satellite 303 - Glass/Stream 303) changes name to The Hobbit HD (Temporary change)

Monday 7th April 2025

• ​Sky The Hobbit (Satellite 303 - Sky Glass/Stream 303) changes name to ​Sky Hits / Sky Hits HD (reverting from temporary change)

Thursday 10th April 2025

      

• ​Sky History+1 (Satellite 223 (224 Scotland)) closes permanently

Monday 14th April 2025

• MTV Hits (Satellite 351 - Glass/Stream 351) rebrands to Club MTV

Friday 18th April 2025

• Sky Hits (Satellite 303 - Glass/Stream 303) changes name to The Hobbit HD (Temporary change)

Those channels are owned by UKTV which I think is a spin off from the BBC.

They're not. W and Yesterday are closing in HD (on satellite only) but Gold, Alibi and Dave will still be HD.

Also Sky History 2 HD is closing, but SD is staying. I guess Sky should respond to why that is happening. 

Seems a backward step to keep SD and close HD channels on satellite. 

Or is this part of their plan to migrate us to Stream?

This is the start of Sky Q's slow lingering death...Q subscribers paying extra for HD channels that are being axed 🙄 forcing you to Stream... 

If this is what's coming it's seriously time to re-evaluate UK TV viewing...

As far as i'm aware Sky don't even operate the Sky History channel, its operated by a third party who license the Sky brand name for the channel.

The only problem with that idea is that I don't get why UKTV would be trying to discourage people from watching on satellite.

If i were to guess I'd assume cost cutting from uktv and their ultimate parent company, BBC Studios.

Broadcasting by satellite is expensive, more so for Hd than Sd.

Then there is also consumer habits, are they watching the linear or streaming the content.

Alternatively,  maybe uktv are pulling an old April fools. We wake up on the 1st and they are like "April fools"

also premier sports rugby has launched on Virgin media and it's free for current subscribers. Wonder if Sky will follow suit
