Trying to call a landline number

I have been trying to call a landline number with no success.  It rings maybe 20 times then I hear a message saying this number is unavailable .

Are you able to call this number using a mobile to see if the same thing happens ?

I have called again just now and got through both on my mobile and landline .

Seems the person I am calling is only receiving calls on their main landline and not on the other phones in their home .   Upstairs they have the landline phones plugged into extension sockets.   Do you think this is the problem with the upstairs phones not ringing?

It could well be what is causimg the issue.
