Lost landline number

With Sky for years, moving house, adamant I wanted to keep landline number had for 50 years.

Moved home, Sky NOW say number is lost, complained to Sky they say it can't be done. 31/1/25

I don't understand I can look out my new kitchen window and see my old kitchen window!   My old landline came from the same exchange as my new one - is Sky just not be bothered? OFCOM recons it can be done. All the Forum say it can be done but Sky will only say 'sorry it's lost'

I have been told I have 30 days and they are running out - HELP!

Unfortunately we've seen other posts reporting similar issues with transferring a landline number, presumably the result of technical difficulties.

I believe there's a fairly recent OFCOM requirement that customers should be able to retrospectively transfer their number, where possible, for up to 30 days after the transferring line has been deactivated.  However, it appears that Sky don't have a process to facilitate it.

I think all you can do is raise a formal complaint, if you haven't already done so, but with only a few days left of the 30 day deadline, a satisfactory outcome doesn't look hopeful.

Re: Lost landline number

Mark thank you for your comments.

But I do believe Sky can sort this, I have changed provider multiple times and moved home 3 times and on every occasion I have kept my number.  It is even more frustrating when I was assured by the home moving team that I could keep my number, it's not like I moved to a different town or city, I can look out my window and see my old address and in actual fact it is the same telephone exchange and indeed the same telephone pole that provides the line to both properties, so why can't the number be ported.  All I done was move address old house Sky with my number to new house Sky - i don't get it.
