Scam caller on landline
A mobile number called the landline claiming to be from BT to say there's problems with internet all over the country. Asked where she's based - London. Asked why she's calling from a mobile not a 020 number or a BT number let alone ringing my landline at 7.55am!! Good job my husband wasn't in bed post nights. This is 3rd time in 2 days this number has called us. Is this a scam?

Re: Scam caller on landline
Hard to know what the scam might be, as it sounds like the call didn't progress to the point where the caller asked you to do something dodgy. It certainly doesn't sound like a call genuinely from BT, though and I'm not aware of recent countrywide Internet problems

Re: Scam caller on landline
It is probably a scam as "BT" would not call a Sky customer to tell them there are problems with their internet and they certainly wouldn'rt call from a mobile number !

Re: Scam caller on landline
'BT' is an ISP in competition with Sky Broadband. The national telecoms network maintainer is Openreach, and they don't phone civilians to tell them anything.
