my mother has recieved a letter from Sky Ireland proporting that all Sky SD would be discontinued in March 2024. Can anyboy confirm is this is true or untrue, i cannot find a mention on the internet that this is true. I know the BBC will end SD. Is this letter misleading?
The BBC SD feed will stop transmitting via Satellite in early 2024 - this will affect Ireland as well as the UK
BTW I believe the date has been brought forward to January from March -
(Edit2 Just checked the message I mention below - scheduled for 8th Jan 2024)
P.P.S if she is watching the SD feed she will be getting a large message on the screen telling her this (& the message cannot be dismissed)
If she is not getting a message then is it possible she has an HD capable box ?
I think SKY are trying to encourage existing users to move of SKY +/HD (even if they don;t really need to yet)

i checked if she was going to be able to send me a photo, but no joy, so i asked her to read the letter again. It 100% claims ALL SKY channels will be removed March 2024.

Very strange - What does the letter go on to state / ask ?
Is there a chance it is a scam ?

We know that SKY UK have sent out letters saying that customers have been upgraded for Free but nothing to say they will be effectively deactivating Subs on them which this letter seems to imply
We will try to get more clarity regarding this but I guess it could well be that SKY Ireland are forcing customers to change - although I guess it might also nr something that has been 'lost in translation' when producung the letters
Not sure if we can get more info but will try to advise if we do

I must stress we may not be able to clarify it any further & if we do it might take a while to do so but we can hope.

Just in case it really is as stated you may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q and see how it may affect your Mother

There is no mention if BBC in the letter btw. When did you get thus letter and what date is in it? We know BBC channels are closing SD on 8 January 2024 but if thus us a very new letter then quoting March 2924 it may be new info.
If you have SD only you would if thus is true, only get SD channels that remain on air on your SD box, that may be operated by 3rd parties so nit a Sjyniwned channel or another broadcaster.
Also, if you have SD as your muktiroom box and Sky+HD asbyoyr main biz, your HD Bix should keep working.
Would be curious to know if you have Sky SD box ONLY or Sky+HD in another room.
Hope that helps.

@jasonIreland I would be very suspicious of this "letter". It does not appear to have a Sky corporate header or show your mother's address or Sky account number. It is written in vague terms and refers to a loss of "favourite" and Sky channels which has not to my knowledge been announced anywhere officially. Website links are generic and the clear encouragement is to call the number shown. If it were a scam your mother could then be asked for personal information. The eligibility clause at the bottom is very simple and clearly omits the word "month" which is also suspicious.
Have you seen the envelope in which it arrived (if so did it show typical Sky logos etc) and was there any other document than what you have shown? Again suspicious if not a usual Sky envelope or no other document with Sky corporate header and your mother's address and account number.
Also is it the case that she only has an SD capable box. If she has an HD capable box then this "letter" would be irrelevant to her.

@jasonIreland I'm interested to hear about this "12-minimum Sky Q term" Joey. Did you have fun printing out this letter?
