I'm viewing in SD, because recording things in HD uses so much more memory of Sky Q! Sky Q IS HD-Capable, so the message is unnecessary! I don't see why they have to have the banner there for the whole programme either! It doesn't even say when the changes will be made! Looks like I'll not be watching ANYTHING on BBC from now on

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Hthomson the banner appears on the SD versions which you won't be able to watch at all in the future. I agree that it's daft for the banner to be there permanently and undismissable. You can blame the BBC for that.

Hey there.
I am a Sky user and have BBC HD however I keep getting the red banner throughout when watching programmes. How do I get rid of this please?

You are watching the SD version as BBC1 HD doesn't carry that message

Just because you have a HD sub does not stop the messages on the SD channels

You need to ensure you record from the BBC 1 HD channel not the SD version.

my mother has recieved a letter from Sky Ireland proporting that all Sky SD would be discontinued in March 2024. Can anyboy confirm is this is true or untrue, i cannot find a mention on the internet that this is true. I know the BBC will end SD. Is this letter misleading?

@jasonIreland I'm not aware of anything other than the bbc in the uk at least, whether it's different for ROI customers I'm not sure
can you post a screenshot of the letter blocking out personal information

thanks for that, i will have to call to her tomorrow and take a pic, theres no hope of her getting to do it, too much for her to get to grips with. I did check that it was specifically addressed to her and not just a standard mailer, and made her read it twice to be sure it wasnt a misreading about the BBC. thanks for thequick response
