@Sthoot Why not just leave the TV on, that is if you have a Smart TV? Then no need to worry about Stream. However I'm surprised that TV's don't have the same standby/ requirement. Just a thought!

@Freddy1000 - if you are considering a move to Sky streaming...just one word of advice... DON'T!
It is the biggest pile of shîte you will ever purchase in your whole life!
Look back through this thread & you will see a number of complaints I have with it...& they are only a few...there are loads!
As soon as my contract is done, I'm gone & I will never, ever return to Sky!!
It is 100% Sky streaming because I have no problem with any other streaming service.

This is the odd thing about Stream. I've had Stream scince April (Glass in the bedroom scince July). I can honestly say it hasn't missed a beat in all that time, even September during the mass outage, it bypassed me (obviously didn't get the "update" that caused it). So there must be local issues involved somewhere for the problems many are getting.🙁

Can I ask if you have a fast broadband connection and if it is plugged into the Ethernet port on the puck ?

Indeed, whilst there is likely to be a small number of faulty pucks, the majority of issues tend to be caused due to Wifi signal strength issues or specific issues that are pinpointed to certain ISPs ( typically some of the smaller altnets).

Have to unfortunately disagree with the last post. I have exceptionally high speeds with my high end ISP and the issues are more likely to do with the puck and that it still needs more software and or hardware updates.
Hopefully in the new year there will be advanced updates and for the puck to be able to cope with all the streaming issues
I have to repeat that its a great system and the menu etc are really good

I really don't think a software update is going to resolve your issues. Like @MarkGoldsmith i habe 3 pucks and 2 glass and have not had any issues that you have. I did have a faulty puck from new that wouldn't get past the sky splash screen and that was replaced within days

More likely your issues are down to wifi (which I know you vehemently deny) or faulty hardware.

I have to agree. You only have to look at the many wi-fi signals listed on the device when you first connect to your router, (from various neighbours), there can only be issues with the conflicting signals interfereing with each other. I guess the only real way to solve this is to have the puck use some kind of buffering rather than connecting directly to Sky's servers.

Nothing to do with my WiFi I am afraid. It's all been tested by the ISP who are high end ones. Speed tests to all my gadgets are fine and work perfectly fine. The issue as I and many others on here suspect it's the puck and their issues are with different ISP's including Sky broadband so the common theme is issue with with the puck but hey ho
I will continue to be patient and hoping in 2025 all issues get sorted 😀😀

It works well enough for me apart from the occasional lip sync issues (which can usually be fixed by changing channel then back again) and the TV Guide EPG not working all the time. Also, sometimes you have to press the home button twice because the first time you can't navigate.
The "Watch from start" feature is another matter though. It either needs to be removed or be made to work past the end of the programme you are trying to watch from the start. It's pretty bad.
I have more problems when using WiFi than ethernet, not many though.

I rarely leave reviews BUT this has to be done. I was a Sky Q customer for years and was generally happy. Sadly, because of tall trees in the area it was becoming more and more unreliable. Along comes Sky Stream, OMG what an absolutely rubbish product. I've now had it for over a year and it never fails to disappoint, it seriously is utter garbage. There literally isn't a day that goes by where I don't curse the day I agreed to buy it. It constantly crashes, freezes or just shuts down. I've changed my broadband to fibre, still no better and then I had to run Cat 5 cables to each box as the WiFi just doesn't work. Everything else I use on WiFi is fine, more than happy on over 900 mbps, Sky? Forget it.
I was stupidly hoping that these would be teething problems, but Sky seem to be happy taking monthly payments for a shoddy product that is soooooooooo frustrating it's unbelievable.
You can't pause for more than a few minutes. The rewind is clunky and often triggers a shut down. The delay is terrible. It's often out of sync with the sound. The watch from start rarely works properly, and when it does it often stops before the end of the program. I'm too frustrated to carry on listing the utter inadequacies of this product DON'T DO IT! Start reading books instead. Such a shame as I used to enjoy having friends over to watch live events on TV, it's now too embarrassing and they avoid my place on such occasions.
This product needs a serious upgrade to address all the Gen 1 bugs. It still needs a hard drive (like Sky Q) and then it might be worth considering....

@Helimad I haven't had Stream as long as you but it has been several months, and although I have been championing several things that are good about it, I am begining to share your frustration.
I do not suffer with the connection problems some have, nor the pixelation problem, even the lip sync was sorted by a quick adjustment. It was however your comment "You can't pause for more than a few minutes. The rewind is clunky and often triggers a shut down. The delay is terrible. It's often out of sync with the sound. The watch from start rarely works properly, and when it does it often stops before the end of the program". That for me sums up the problem to a T, it is exactly the issues we have.
Sky seem to be concentrating on new innovations but they really need to make the viewing experience smoother and hassle free.

What would help @Helimad is that the powers that be come out and accept responsibility and that the issues lie with the Puck and not keep questioning our ISP and network. If they do that, the puck will be enhanced and we as customers will be happy and stop having to contact Sky
I have to say again Sky stream is a better product than Q, but it just needs to get rid of all the gremlins and enhance the product and make it better equipped for streaming

I've given up trying to get Sky to deal with these issues. You end up talking to a patronising, clueless person reading from a script. Even an engineer agreed there are several bugs that should be sorted "soon" - still waiting!
with regard to the sync issue, mine can't be tweaked because it keeps changing and sometimes doesn't do it at all...
