It's very odd. When I turn on pass through on sky stream the audio goes completely. Then I try again and it suddenly works and then drops out for the next tv show...
That seems odd indeed. There have been issues previously with changing audio settings such as delay or changing output type with the sound completely disappearing. Try setting the audio settings on your stream puck to passthrough and make sure delay is 0. Then regardless of whether it turns sound off or not, turn the puck off and then take out the power cable at the back of the puck completely for say 30 seconds. Then back in, wait for it to initiate and then turn the puck on again and see how that works.

Yup. Same as. Can't use passthrough as if you change channel etc it then stops sending audio. I just leave mine on DD+ now and it seems ok.

Out of interest what is the latest firmware version? I'm currently on QS024. TIA.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Floydianslip The latest is QS025.015.00P My puck was updated a couple of weeks ago and it is still rolling out.

Still having issues - very frustrating!
End up using the TV apps and Stream for only Sky channels with lag - begs the question of where the value is here.
I have a beam v1 that doesn't support DD+. Reckon investing in a new beam and turnin gon DD+ will work?
Current set up is TV Audio bypass, TV Audi Delay bypass (no idea why this makes it a bit better?!) and Stream on DD. If I choose passthrough I get no audio at all.
Just tried an HDMI/Optical splitter to see if this could sort it but no luck.

I've done the same. Given up on the Stream puck due to the continual inability to maintain any form of lip sync between apps without a full reboot in between.
I now largely use an Apple TV 4K box for all apps, including the NOW app for Sky content. HD & 5.1 is the most NOW can output but it's always in sync and really doesn't look that much inferior (if at all) to the UHD/HDR output from the limited number of things we'd watch on Stream.
Value wise, the Apple box is obviously a lot more expensive, but it's immediately apparent why. Everything just works faster and better on there.
Sky Stream is fine and I can totally see the appeal for sports fans, which, one can assume, are the majority of Sky's customers. Perfect audio/video sync doesn't matter quite so much on football, golf, cricket, F1 or whatever else sporty folk watch, but for those of us (me) who watch mainly drama, docs and movies, lip sync is critical.

Me too. My contract is up at the beginning of June and then (after 14 years) I'm moving on and going with the Apple box. Lip synch is terrible and is the reason for me leaving.

We will do the same. We only use Sky for the native content and apps for everything else as the lip sync is a mess, it's totally broken and inconsistent.
Oh well, the idea was nice. I am amazed it gets good reviews, it really is a poor experience 😞

What happens if you take the Sonos Beam out of the equation so that the audio comes out of the tv's built in speakers and have sky stream set to audio passthrough?

I highly suspect this issue is exacerbated by arc rather than earc. I have near zero delay using Sonos arc with stream and tv on passthrough using earc. However in another room with Sonos beam gen 1 using Arc I have a tiny but notable delay.

I have a very simple set up - no sound bar, just use the TVs speakers ...still terrible lip synch
18 Mar 2024 04:28 PM
Have you changed the audio to passthrough on the stream puck?
is the sound behind the picture or before the picture if so?

I have a Sonos Beam gen 2 and have absolutely no issues with lip sync on Stream, the audio is set to auto, setting the Stream output to DD+ results in no audio on any Atmos content where auto just simply works.
For anyone hvaing lip sync issues wehn we first got the gen 1 Beam we experinced terrible lip sync only with Sky Q, the TV's in buld apps, Apple TV, PS5 where all perfect, calls to Sky and directly to Sonos got nowhere, in the end it was a audio setting in the TV that was the issue, it was a Samsung QLED which we have upgraded now but setting all of Q's and the TV's lip sync delays back to default and playing around with the rest of the settings is what eventually got it sorted.

I've had this issue for months and it happened out of the blue. it's at the point where I don't bother using the puck and go straight to the associated apps. even watching F1 on NOW because the sound is so bad. Did a hard reset and it fixed it until I tried UHD and BAM it's back. seeing as you don't have the option to watch some things non-UHD this is just infuriating

Decided to bite the bullet and purchase HD Fury Arcana..

Quite expensive but fixed all the issues instantly.
