Why have they withdrawn the option to see what's on next and what is on the other channels whilst watching a programme.  Now you have to go to the TV guide.

@Pigwilliam

For the Sky OS 2 beta trial, assuming you may not be aware or have not noticed within this Sky OS 2 thread it has been posted many times and flagged by Sky in the post here , that some features are not available yet in the trial, but will be available later in the trial:

• UHD button on Sports Channels.
• Favourite Channels in the TV Guide.
• Browsing Channels while watching content.
• Customising Subtitles.

Sky Glass Air OS v2

It appears my Sky Glass Air has now updated to Sky OS v2. While I understand this is still in beta, I've noted a few significant UX regressions and usability issues that I hope can be addressed before the final release:

  1. Term Changes: What was previously named "Playlist" has been rebranded to "Watchlist."
  2. Added Navigation Steps: Accessing original Playlist content now requires opening "My Library," which itself has been split into separate "Watchlist" and "Recordings" tabs, adding unnecessary friction.
  3. Storage Cap & Cloud Recordings: Under the "Manage" option in the Recordings section, there is now an indicator showing remaining capacity out of a 1,000-hour maximum. Given that the original concept of the Playlist was simply tagging cloud content for streaming rather than occupying local or personal storage, why has a artificial storage limit been introduced?
  4. Burying Profile Switching: Changing user profiles is far too buried. From the default user library, it requires navigating five clicks down to "Manage Watchlist," two clicks right to "Switch Watchlist," and a further click to select the intended profile. Profile switching should be accessible directly from the top level, not buried four levels deep inside a specific library view.
  5. There are no options to edit or add additional user profiles.

While beta updates naturally introduce change, this layout feels like a noticeable step backward for daily navigation efficiency.

Re: New Sky OS 2.0

I have read that the cloud recordings are only kept for one year. After that they delete. The 1000hrs of programming that can be recorded is max after this you have to delete programmes or you can set the box to be able to auto delete. I think some on the trial to record ch 4 channels and some don't, I don't, I can only add to the playlist. I  guessing that if the itv purchase by sky is successful, then the ITV channels will be able to be recorded too, I bet sky get channel 4 onboard so it will just be the BBC channels that  won't be allowed to be recorded

@Sparkleduckie worth being aware that the 1000 hours as seemingly always been a thing and was promoted as a marketing line ever since the streaming platform launched its just in version 1 of the OS there was no way for a customer to know what had actually been cloud recorded, how much of that 1000 hours had been utilised and how to delete old recordings, but seemingly it was magically being utilised behind the scenes.

I literally cleared 500+ hours earlier as I had loads of cloud recorded content from shows I had long since removed from my playlist, without being aware that removing them from my playlist wasn't actually removing the cloud recorded content.

Regaeding the extra step - I don't believe you need to take the extra step as on a shows page, it will show you not only available on-demand versions, but there is also a recording rails underneath which shows what episodes have been cloud recorded, so you should be able to access recordings from the same page as you would do if it were on-demand playback

PSA: If you like your TV working, do NOT opt-in to the beta!

Long story short; the new UI sky is releasing is breaking the Sky Glass Air. I wish I never opted in to this. TV starting malfunctioning last night. If I paused it, and left it for 5-10 minutes the whole TV would crash. Turning on/off by the socket, TV wouldn't turn on. Factory resetting is a requirement to get it working again. OK, did that and again today same issue!

Now everytime you power the TV down, it takes a good 15 minutes to power-on - even with enhanced mode.

The new software update is insanely buggy, and Sky should have a better QA process.

Re: New Sky OS

Currently running the new OS on Sky Glass 2 and I have a few observations/issues.

  • Watching a UHD programme from the start that's already started it will constantly freeze and go to a black screen. Selecting the HD broadcast the stream runs fine.
  • Recents in the top menu bar is empty, no recent apps or channels appear. Having my last watched channels and apps available like the old OS is really useful.
  • Some live broadcasts can take a day to appear in the recordings section. Eg Darts

Thanks

Symon

Re: New Sky OS 2.0

At the top bar- when you select tv guide and it provides all channels and then genres - surely TV SHOWS should be replaced with something like "ENTERTAINMENT or GENERAL" the current " TV SHOWS" is poor grammar at best - TV CHANNELS aren't a Genre

Hi @jammydodger2

I've got it on a G1 and G2 Glass and all my pucks and it's working relatively well although there are a few bugs. This is the nature of beta software.

There was a thread on the community and apparently it's is possible to be unenrolled and revert back to the previous OS. Somewhere here: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Stream/New-Sky-OS-2-0/td-p/5354436

But it may be worth contacting sky for specific support / troubleshooting.

@jammydodger2 I have merged your post to this existing thread that is discussing the same topic, a new thread isn't required as this is the only place you need to post regarding OS2 beta trial software related issues.

I'm not seeing any recording issue of F1 or any Sky sports I normally record with Sky OS 2

All my F1 sessions for this and last weekend recorded fine with Sky OS 2 as they have done all this season and all sit nicely now in the MyLibrary Watchlist and within the Manage recordings section.

Here are the two F1 practice sessions recorded from yesterday. Im just getting ready to watch some of FP3 and qualy this morning.

With Sky OS 2.0, within the tv guide, programme page etc, you will see the red recording option, as below.

In this case it's showing the series link red circle, rather than the single record circle.

Plus also check your scheduled list under Home>My Library>Manage recordings>Scheduled

Just to be sure, are you scrolling down from to the full Apps rail, not the one you see in Home bar>recents.

It should be there on the full apps rails.

Re: New Updates

Yes I find the ffwd is very erratic in performance, sometimes it will ffwd a few seconds then pause then go a few more and so on..

Also yes the remaining mins will not be accurate most of the time, multi hour programmes are the most difficult to watch on live pause.
