Sky Store App stopped working on LGTV

So we've used the SkyStore app for years and suddenly the app doesn't load, leaving just a black screen.

 

I've tried unistalling and reinstalling, which seems to be the common fix, but it didn't help. The TV says it's the latest version.

 

Model: Uh650v. Version: 05.70.45thanks for any help my autistic daughter isn't pleased her films are "gone" on the main TV and I dislike the idea of rebuying them on prime.

I suppose you have tried a reboot of the TV, if so and her films are Buy and Keep ones then as they are stored on the account tshe should be able to access them on other devices via the Sky Store app if that helps.

Yeah sadly I tired that but no luck, I'm increasingly worried that they quietly ended support for the TV after they ended NowTV support earlier in the year for it.

 

Luckily she can watch them on other devices but unsurprisingly she's a little particular about where she watches what films, and apparently live action films have to be on the big TV.

Hi @ChrisAbe 

 

With that model tv running WebOS3 and with your software up to date (which it is)  - the Skystore app should work fine. 

I've not heard anything to suggest WebOS 3 no longer supports Skystore so it could be a software fault in the Skystore app which needs to be fixed by them. 

My only suggestion would be to put your problem to the Skystore support team (tomorrow after 11am) to see if they are aware of an issue with older LG TVs even though they support Webos3

hi,

did you manage to find a solution for this? having the same trouble

tonight. rented a jurassic world film and now can't play it on my lg tv. getting the same black screen as you mentioned.

Not yet, I seem to be going in circles with Sky Support. 

"What's your problem?" I explain
"Sorry, can you confirm your identity?" I answer their questions.

It is however reassuring to discover other LGTV users are having problems and it's not something unique to my TV. I really dislike the idea of having to buy a new TV because some apps don't work.

i had to watch jurassic world on my iphone! as paid to hire the film and only had 48 hrs to watch. i see the sky app is doing an update soon- but wonder if it will affect us lg tv customers. it is really dissappointing not being able to also watch any of the now tv programmes too.

Finally got a message from sky

The issue with the app, unfortunately is a firmware issue with LG and not Sky Store.

 

This is preventing the App from loading and playing movies and we are working with LG to get a resolution.

 

However this is something that LG need to resolve and unfortunately we cannot provide any further information as to when the issue will be resolved.

They suggest using a mobile/pc/tablet or buying a NowTV or Roku box... so I guess it's going to be some time.

Spoke to SS ... still an issue with LG v Sky . tell you what just get the app on all tv set ups and firesticks , stop being **bleep** ... even the bloke at Sky cant watch films on his tv **bleep** !!

Yeah, both just pointed at the other when I contacted them, I ended up getting a Roku stick after spotting it on a deep discount.
